Hi I'm Chris Hendricks

I'm from New Windsor, NY , and am serving a mission in the California Fresno Mission.

About Me

I am serving a mission in the soon to be split Modesto Mission. After my mission i want to start a business where I can create things. I have 1 brother, and 4 sisters of which I'm the oldest child. I love the outdoors and was an active scout and I am an eagle scout. I enjoy swimming, but not right now.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family of members although my father was never too active until I was about 7 or 8 and my mom did her best to take me and my siblings to church. She read the picture scriptures with the basic stories and lessons with us so we could know what the scriptures were. So my mom pretty much raised me in the church and planted that seed. As I grew so did my testimony, but I think it was mainly on my parents. When my father came back he was active till I was about 14. When he left again, that was hard. It was different, and I can say my testimony started dwindling. I was a teenager and I fell into the world a little. Stopped reading and praying as much, kind of stopped caring about it. Eventually my mom rekindled the spark for me to go on a mission. I can say I don't know why I initially decided to go, other than for my mom, but it has been the best thing ever. I now have a testimony that I know that this is Christ's church on the earth again. I have seen that in the scriptures I've studied and in the answers to prayers I've received. This has been the best thing I've ever done and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I know that if everyone else simply Reads the Book of Mormon and Prays to our Heavenly Father as Moroni exhorts (Moroni 10:3-5), we can know by the power of the Holy Ghost what is true. I know that His prophet, Joseph Smith was the reason that the church is here today. I know that we are led and guided by A living prophet, Thomas S. Monson. This is true and this is good, and I will hold onto it for the rest of my life and pray for opportunities to share it with others.

How I live my faith

I think the best thing about being a missionary is how much I have learned. I have to say that I live my faith 1 day at a time. I endure, I don't get content, and i continue to try my hardest to follow my Savior. I try to serve because that is one thing I enjoy doing that my Heavenly Father has blessed me with. I also try to improve the talents he has given me and turn my weaknesses into strengths with the help of the Atonement of Christ. It's as simple as that, but it's personal to me.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Chris Hendricks
I know the Bible is a Testament of Jesus Christ and that it prophesies of him in the Old Testament, and tells of his teachings in the New Testament. It is a true and correct book, as far as it is translated correctly. I know that it supports the Book of Mormon and the Book of Mormon supports the Bible. Show more Show less
