Hi I'm Emily

I'm a student, a daughter, a sister, a missionary, an exercise fanatic, a food lover, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in a military family, so I have lived all over the country, even the world! Because I have moved so much in my life my parents and siblings truly are my best friends! Which is good because we will be together for eternity... :) Currently home is TEXAS and I hope to keep it there! I went to BYU-Idaho studying exercise physiology before coming out on my mission. I have always enjoyed exercise and nutrition, so I hope to make a career out of it one day! I LOVE kids, which is why before my mission I was a nanny for triplets and have worked as a summer camp counselor and worked at a day care. I'd much rather play and color with chalk and crayons with kids than hang out with people my own age! I love to get out and explore and travel. I love making memories, trying and cooking new food, staying active (hiking, swimming, yoga, kickboxing, and fishing) and taking pictures along the way! I love to sing and harmonize around the piano and the ukulele with my family. I love to laugh and live my life to the fullest! Currently I'm a full-time missionary for my church in Knoxville Tennessee and I can't think of a better thing I could do at this time in my life! :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in this church, but I truly began to develop a strong testimony of my own in my teenage years. I read the Book of Mormon many times throughout my life, but when I was 15, I did a 60 day reading challenge, and I read the Book of Mormon in 60 days. Afterwards I prayed fervently to know for myself if the book was true. And I received my answer that it was true. It changed my life. That school year as I was reading the book, I was blessed. I received better grades than ever before, my relationships with family and friends were strengthened, and I excelled in the sports I was involved in! Later in my life I decided I wanted to share with others the joy I have received from being a part of this church, so I decided to serve a full time mission! Now as a missionary I have seen this restored gospel of Jesus Christ change lives. It can soften hearts, it can heal those who are broken and lonely, and it can provide hope for the hopeless. Being a part of this church offers so much - a true knowledge of my Savior Jesus Christ and what he has done for me; more scripture (The Book of Mormon) that clarifies and compliments the Bible and provides more guidance to me; a prophet who can guide me and give me direction from God; and a chance to be with my family and my future spouse for eternity by being sealed by the proper Priesthood authority of God in the Temple of our Lord. I am so blessed to be a part of this church!

How I live my faith

I am currently living my faith by serving a full time mission in Tennessee! I am here to share with others what I know and love about this true restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I find so much joy in sharing the knowledge that I have with others. I have met so many beautiful people here on my mission and they have taught me more than I could ever teach them! I try to live my faith by being an example of our Savior Jesus Christ. We have been asked to "let our light shine before men" so that is what we try to do as missionaries every day as we smile and share our wonderful message with others! I also live my faith by every morning reading the scriptures and reading the words of the prophets and apostles, including the current prophet we have today, Thomas S. Monson. I cannot think of a better way to start my day!

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Emily
We have a message of joy, a message of our Savior Jesus Christ! Before Jesus Christ left the earth, he taught us to "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations" (Matthew 28:19). There are people on this earth who have not learned of Christ and what he has done for us. We want others to experience the joy that we feel from being a part of this church. I have seen lives change from people coming unto Christ and developing a relationship with God through prayer and through obedience to the commandments we have been given. I want to see that change in others! Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Emily
We can come to know our Father in Heaven by reading the words of his chosen prophets in the scriptures. We can pray to him throughout the day, asking him questions, and thanking him for things. If you ask God if he is there, and sincerely seek for an answer, he will answer you. Our loving Heavenly Father is just that, a perfect, loving father. He has given us "rules" or "guidelines" as any loving father would; the commandments. If we obey these, he will bless us just as he has promised. As we follow the example of his son, Jesus Christ, we will also be able to grow closer to and understand our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
