Hi I'm Alexis Oakes

I am a student. I am a missionary. I am a Mormon

About Me

I am nineteen and serving a mission in California Los Angeles. I was raised in the church and am forever grateful for it. When I get home i will finish my schooling for Massage therapy.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints but my continued membership is by choice. Through trials and obstacles I have learned of Heavenly Father's love for me. By reading the scriptures I have gained a testimony of their truthfulness. By listening to the prophet and apostles I have learned for myself that we receive modern day revelation. By living the standards of the church I have become a better and happier person.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to fulfill the reason why i am here. To change! By learning about and understanding my savior Jesus Christ. I live my faith when I try to become like Him , when i try to live and see others as he does. Right now i am living my faith by serving a mission.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Alexis Oakes
While the proper name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mormons is the more commonly known name. The nickname comes from the Book of Mormon, which we believe to be another testament of Christ. This book is not meant to replace the bible. It is meant to go hand in hand with it, creating better understanding of its teachings. Show more Show less
