Hi I'm Jared

I love Chipotle. I am obsessed with sports. I'm Uncle Jared. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission for the Lord in the North Carolina, Raleigh mission, awaiting my visa to serve in the Brazil, Cuiaba mission. I was born in Utah, but shortly thereafter I moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, or da Nasty Nati, or da 513, as some call it, and was raised there. Before my mission, most of my life has revolved around sports. I played them, studied them, and watched them about everyday. When I was at college, I was involved in many intramural sports, including basketball, flag football, and racquetball. My lifelong dream is to be able to slam dunk a basketball, but I'm afraid gravity will prevent that from ever happening. I am one of five children and am an uncle to eight AWESOME nieces and nephews. I love being around my family and enjoying each others company!

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up a Mormon, so the standards and doctrine have somewhat come naturally to me. Even though I have grown up being a Mormon, it hasn't always been easy. Throughout school, I have always been one of the only Mormons in my school. Most of my friends growing up were not Mormons, so I was always having to explain my religion. I had no problem doing this, but when I got older, some of my friends began going on a different path than I was. It was hard for me to see some friends doing things with their life that were much different than I was doing. I began losing some friends that I had been close with for a long time. I then realized that they have their agency and I have mine. I know that as I serve a mission for the Lord, I will be setting an example for all my friends, and hopefully me being gone will spark their interest about what it is like to be a Mormon! Since I love sports, I have to relate being Mormon back to them. I normally highly dislike bandwagon sports fans, or people who root for the winning teams, but in this situation, I love it. Being a member of this faith is like rooting for the winning team. I know that this gospel is the true restored gospel of Jesus Christ, so I know that I am on the winning team. How did I know is was the true gospel? Well, the solution lies in the Book of Mormon, in Moroni 10:3-5. Look it up! It WILL change your life!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be a representative of my Savior, Jesus Christ, each and everyday of my life. People notice a difference in the way Mormons live their lives, and most of the time they realize how that difference has benefitted that persons life for the better. Someone once told me that sometimes, the only Book of Mormon a person will read is you. I firmly believe that. People are always watching us, and we need to set that Christ-like example. I try to set that ultimate example for others, so that they can see how this wonderful Gospel has changed my life, and how it can change theirs too.
