Hi I'm Nathan

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm a twin. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I am a 19 year-old member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am currently serving a mission in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. I play the violin, snow and waterski, and hike. When I return from my mission, I will finish my studies at Brigham Young University, major in International Relations, and then attend law school.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon, and I know without a doubt that it is a true book. I know that there is a God, who is also my Heavenly Father, and that he loves me and answers my prayers. I know that Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ, and he translated the Book of Mormon through their divine guidance. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet on the earth today, and he receives inspiration from God. For these and many other reasons, I know that this church is true. This knowledge has brought peace to me throughout my life, and this gospel and this church are the most important things in my life. I would not be who I am today without it. The reason that I chose to serve a mission and leave my family, friends, and everything else behind for two years is because I want to share this message with those who may not be as fortunate as I am, and who need the love of Jesus Christ and the peace that the gospel can bring in their lives. I have felt that love and peace, and it means so much to me that I have to share it.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the church my entire life. As a youth, I participated in service projects in my neighborhood such as raking leaves, shoveling driveways, and replacing old batteries in smoke detectors. I have been a leader in my ward by preparing the Sacrament, organizing gospel doctrine lessons, and teaching. Now, as a missionary in Brazil, my main purpose is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. I devote my time to this calling by knocking doors and approaching people on the streets to share what I believe with them. I teach lessons to investigators, and answer the burning questions of the soul that will give them peace in their lives.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is growing because it provides answers to questions that other things in life cannot answer, such as "Who am I? Where am I going? What is my purpose?". The answers that the church gives to these questions bring people peace and happiness in their lives. In a world that is increasingly chaotic and confusing, the church is a refuge where we can find peace. Show more Show less
