Hi I'm Skyler!

I'm a lover of learning. I'm a movie quoting machine. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family where all of us children are adopted. There are 11 of us kids. This made for some wild times, but I love my big family more than anything. I moved in the middle of high school from Utah to Minnesota when I was 16. This was tough, but in the time since my testimony of Christ and His gospel has grown more than ever before. I am a college graduate and hold an Associate of Arts degree in liberal arts from a local community college. I'm a seminary graduate and an Eagle Scout. I love going long boarding and doing adventurous outdoors activities like: rock climbing, kayaking, repelling, hiking and camping. And of course I love to fish! I love being a Mormon and feel that nothing else has had such a positive or dramatic effect in shaping my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many I was born into this church. I had parents who from when I was little taught me to live the gospel. It wasn't until I was about sixteen though that I really decided for myself that I was doing the right thing, and that going to church and being a member was what I wanted. Needless to say I've had my struggles and from that I have a profound sense of gratitude for the Lord Jesus Christ and his Atonement. I would not enjoy the blessings of peace and joy that I have now if the gift of repentance were not made possible by Him. I know that our Savior died for each of us, and that it was his choice to do so because of his great love for us and through the obedience to his, and our Father in Heaven. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father, and His son Jesus Christ in the Sacred Grove, and that from then on he was called to be a prophet of God. He truly did translate the Book of Mormon from plates he received, and The Book of Mormon is the word of God. Today we have a living prophet who serves in the same capacity as did those in the Old Testament. He receives revelation from Jesus Christ on how to direct His church here on earth today. I know that families can be together forever when they are sealed in the temple by one holding the proper Priesthood authority. I am so grateful for the knowledge of why we are here on this earth and the promise that if we live according to God's commandments we can go back and live with Him forever!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in my church callings as best I can. I have been a priest quorum adviser, a ward missionary, and recently a first counselor in the Sunday school presidency! I love to share my testimony with others and try to share it with as many people as I can. I live my life in a way that i can be a positive example for my younger siblings so that they can know what the blessings of living the gospel look like. I read my scriptures and study the words of The Prophet's and Apostles. I try to fulfill all of my priesthood callings as best I can by visiting with those families I home-teach.
