Hi I'm Dannica

I am a kiwi-born Samoan from New Zealand. I love serving the lord and his people.

About Me

I am waiting to leave to go a mission to serve the people of Fiji. I am currently studying to become a Physical Education Teacher and I love to play a variety of sports especially rugby.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had my fair share of times wondering what church I am going to join. I was born of this church but in my earlier years, I recall that I had attended many different denominations including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints a.k.a Mormon Church. There came a time when we were going to other denominations more than our own "Mormon Church" and our parents wanted to know once and for all which church we were going to stick to. So they asked me and my siblings - at that time there was 4 of us and we were all under the age of 10 - what church we wanted to join and personally there was no doubt that it was the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints. I cant explain it but it was a feeling I got when I went to that church and years later I reflected and recognised it as the fruits of the spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23. There is nothing like feeling the spirit testify to you personally if the gospel is true and it did for me at such a young age. I always wondered what made members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints different and I guess I can share some light in being one of those members and it is this, we have been blessed to have the RESTORED gospel of Jesus Christ. This means that as the church was established on earth when Jesus Christ was alive, it is too in these latter days. An important key fact is that when Christ and his apostles had died, so did the power and authority of God go away. This power and authority to act in Gods name is called the priesthood. The priesthood is like the binding glue of the gospel and is held by men who are worthy to receive it. This power and authority allowed the church to be organized. So with this priesthood the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to its original state when Christ was on earth. I have a testimony that these things are true. I wanted to know so I studied, discussed & prayed about it. If you do the same, I promise you will receive an answer to your questions.

How I live my faith

I am currently teaching the youth in Sunday School aged 14-15years old. It is a challenge at times with our young people so blind to the needs of their spiritual well-being. I have come to realise that I too was at that age and not willing to hear any of the teachings of the gospel. I had become ignorant and leaning onto my own understanding. With the youth in my Sunday school class, I am trying to encourage an environment where they will hear the gospel straight as it is, no bed-time story feel, no wishy washy stuff, the doctrine as it is. These youth have so many flattering voices of the world that they do not need the gospel all "flattered up" so to speak. I love the gospel and teaching my Sunday school class has opened my eyes to a whole new way of learning things personally. I also attend organized events at church that help me to fellowship with other members and those visiting. These events are wholesome and exciting. These events can range from learning to sew to social dances to spiritual workshops. There was also an inter-faith event that occurred where I used my talent of singing to share a message. Using your talents is a different way of sharing a great message not only in a spiritual sense but also in a way that would help someone feel good. I am never one to sing but when I had received an invitation to sing and help a friend out I could not turn it down. I am also going to serve the lord on a full-time volunteer mission. I am going to serve the people of Fiji and I am excited. I am full of hope in the prospect of new beginnings for some of the people I may come across who need a meaningful joyful message. I will be doing this in the Fijian language which I know nothing about but I am looking forward to the challenge.
