Hi I'm McKay

I was born and raised in a small town in New Mexico. I am now attending college, and studying engineering. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up playing soccer and camping in the nearby mountains with my family. During high school, my soccer team even won the state title for my high school, which was really cool and fun. I also played rugby and ran track in high school. I now attend college, where I am studying Civil Engineering. I hope to specialize in structural engineering, and then work on designing bridges or other sweet buildings. However, I am now serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Germany, and am excited to bring the gospel to the German peoples. It reminds me of a song that is very dear to me (since I learn the best by songs). The title of the song is "Brightly Beams our Father's mercy", and I really enjoy the message that it offers, and how we are called to save other people who are poor, fainting, and struggling.

Why I am a Mormon

Until this past year at college, I just kinda coasted through my life, and didn't really have a testimony of the truthfulness of the church. However, once I got to college, trial after trial beset me, and it was tough. I got sick multiple times, and broke my hand, requiring me to miss plenty of classes, as well as interfering with my studying time. I was having a rough time, and so I took a walk, and as I was walking, I was thinking about all of my problems, and asked myself "Why am I having all of these problems?" Almost immediately, all of my doubts and my troubled feelings were taken from me, and were replaced with a lasting peace. I knew that everything would turn out fine, and I felt loved and that my problems were known to my Heavenly Father. Now I know that the church is true, and I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that He loves me, and wants what's best for me.

How I live my faith

I have always been active in the LDS church, and even while I was growing up I held leadership positions in the youth program. Now, I am serving a full time mission for the church in the Alpine German-speaking mission, which covers Southeast Germany, Austria, Eastern Switzerland, and German-speaking Italy. I am super excited to serve the Lord and spread the gospel to the German/Austrian/Swiss people.
