Hi I'm Corwyn Yeske

I was born in Washington, I moved to California at seven years old, and I am currently serving a mission.

About Me

On June 22, 2013, I will turn 18. After graduating my third year of high school I went in to work for my dad as a contractor. Last year when President Monson announced that we could leave on our missions at age 18 as boys, my whole life seemed to fall into place. Since then, I have saved most of the money needed to go, and ready much of the scriptures to finish getting ready. My mission call is to Billings Montana. I report July 24th 2013. Until then, I plan to be the best missionary I can from where I stand.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all my life. Now, most of the time when I say that I get the response that "You're just brainwashed then", but that isn't true. I've spent my time looking at other religions, and trying to figure out on my own what the truth of this life is. The first time I read the Book of Mormon all the way through by my self, i received my own personal revelation that this Gospel is the True Gospel of Christ. I know it. I don't have to wonder if I'm doing the right thing because I have a Prophet of the Lord god that tells me at least every six months what I should be doing. I know this Gospel is True, and though there may be imperfect people in this Church, that does not mean that the lord's Work is imperfect. I love the Lord, and I know he loves me, and every one of my friends and family.

How I live my faith

Here in the Jurupa First ward, I have served as the secretary to the Priest's Quorum Presidency (Boys age 16-19 who hold the Aaronic priesthood) about a year. As a group of Young Men, we have bonded, grown, and learned together very well. Our teacher has lead us on adventure after adventure through service mostly, but also camping. I love attending Church, and spending time with my Fellow Priests. We are all determined to go on missions and have begun to prepare together. At the moment, I am the only one with a mission call, but that won't be for long.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Corwyn Yeske
Jesus Christ is an example of perfection in all ways. His way of loving even those who tortured him and put him to death shows us that sometimes it takes monumental effort on our part to make a relationship work. Knowing that we sin every day and cause Him a portion of the terrible pain He suffered in the garden, and that He forgives us as soon as we ask him to and loves us unconditionally, how can we turn around and not forgive our fellow man for a simple mistake. Just knowing that Jesus Christ existed helps me to believe I can be better, and know that I will be better if I ask Him for help.. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Corwyn Yeske
When we are young, our parents give us Chores. Sometimes they do it without even giving us allowance! Do we consider this slave labor? No. Why not? Because our parents are paying for everything we have from the food in the cabinets to the roof over our heads of the electricity that fuels the computer you may be using this very moment (Also paid for by the parents). With all of this money we are consuming, is taking out the trash really that bad? I thought not. This is how I see Tithing. The Lord created out bodies, created our home (Earth), parented our spirits, sacrificed His Son for our eternal welfare, Loves us unconditionally, blesses us whenever we ask, and all we have to do is give back 10% of the money we make. (I say give back, because He gave us the money too) I would gladly give 50% if He asked for it, because It isn't mine in the first place. Show more Show less
