Hi I'm Alyssa Pearson

I am from Virginia, I am currently serving a mission in Chicago, Illinois, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Northern Virginia. I was a swimmer all four years of high school. I have one sibling; my brother. After high school, I attended BYU-Idaho for two semesters (one year). I had never thought that I would serve a mission, but when President Thomas S. Monson changed the age limit for the availability to serve a mission, I decided to pray about it. So now I am serving a full time mission in Chicago, Illinois! I am preaching the gospel in the Spanish language! I love going to the temple, especially the Washington, D.C. temple which is the one I attend at home. I love being with my family and friends and I love to swim! I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have to serve my Heavenly Father and his children here in Chicago!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger, I didn't really have the church in my life. My mother was a less active member in the church. She married my father, who wasn't a member at all. It was hard for my mother to go to church with my younger brother and I alone. Through the hard work and love of the many missionaries who served my family and the truths that they taught, my father was baptized in 2000 and is now currently serving in the bishopric of my home ward. My family was sealed in the temple for eternity in 2001. I was almost nine years old. I will never forget the change that happened in our family when my father made that decision. I will be eternally grateful for the hard work of those missionaries who chose to teach my father. They didn't give up on him. My family will now be together forever! Despite the fact that I have had the gospel in my life for some years, I had to find out for myself that the church was true. It says in the Book of Mormon that if we ask with a sincere heart, praying to our Father in Heaven, we can know for ourselves if the church is true. So I did. And now I know without a doubt that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true and restored church of God on the earth today. I have been so blessed to be called as a representative of Jesus Christ to bring this knowledge to all those who are willing to receive it. I want to bless every family with what the missionaries blessed my family with so many years ago. I know that our families can be together for forever! What a sweet blessing that is!

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full time mission. I get up every day ready to bring the restored gospel to His children. I live my faith by acting in faith! I rely on the Lord in all that I do. I work as hard as I can to be the person that He would have me be. Through daily prayer and scripture study (The Book of Mormon) I have found that my faith has grown!
