Hi I'm Amberly

I grew up in New Mexico. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in New Mexico. I practically lived here my entire life. We moved away when I was three to Pennsylvania because my dad is in the army. My dad was a colonel in the army reserves. He is now an electrical engineer. My mom got a degree in Microbiology, but she never used it. She did become a Pharmacy tech later, which she used for a few years. She spent her days helping me and my siblings. She taught me how to sew. I just sewed a skirt for my mission! She really likes to garden too. That skill my siblings are now taking up. I am the youngest of nine. I have 3 nephews and 4 nieces, with one little girl on the way. I play the violin, and a little bit of piano. My dad plays the guitar, and my mom and sister play the piano. We all can sing though. On Christmas eve 3 years in a row, we put on a show in old Mesilla. It was quite the show! We played Christmas songs, told jokes, and explained the history of some of the songs. My brothers and I like to go into the desert by Walmart and we play paintball. It is intense. The heat is exhaustive. We usually wear old army clothes to protect us and we definitely hid behind bushes and things and army crawl. Definitely a fun Saturday game. When all of the girls are together, we have sleepovers and watch movies. My sister always gets the delicious snacks! The ones hard to resist. I love my family! I am in college now. I want help people by becoming an Athletic Trainer.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is true. I feel the Holy Ghost speak to me when I read the scriptures. He teaches me and helps me to know the truth of all things. In Doctrine and Covenants 19, I learned something very profound about the Atonement. It says that Jesus Christ suffered that they (meaning us) might not suffer. When I read that, I learned something about Jesus Christ. He suffered for us, and he knew all things. He knew what we would do. He knew who was going to choose him and who wasn't, but he still suffered. He suffered for those that would choose not to use the atonement in their lives to clean them from sin. But he loved us enough to suffer more than he "had" to. I know He loves me. I love him. Because I have felt his love for me, I have chosen to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best person I can be. I read my scriptures and pray often. I read scriptures with my family too. We also try to be together as much as possible even though we are old and starting to have kids of our own. At church, I have been responsible for choir and choosing music for sacrament meeting. By choosing uplifting songs, I am able to do my part to increase the spirit in the meeting. I also am about to leave my family and the world I know to serve a mission for a year and a half. I want other people to have the gospel in their live, because the gospel makes me happy. It gives me meaning and purpose. I know it is true, so I try to be good so that others can see and find the source of happiness which is through Jesus Christ.
