Hi I'm Tyler Edwards

I grew up in Oregon. I love the outdoors, dirtbiking, sports, golf and singing. What defines a Mormon?

About Me

I have moved around a lot growing up, growing up in more than 3 states. We are constantly moving and traveling because of my father's job. I have seen a lot of the United States because of it. With all the moving around I developed a love for flying and traveling. My father is a firefighter and my mother is a nurse. I respect, admire, love, and know of the hard ships that my father and mother have to endure because of their jobs. I admire how much of a hero they are to people and I want to be just as much of a hero when I grow up. My father has raised all of us to enjoy the outdoors and look for all the opportunities that it holds. I enjoy a lot of outdoor activities that he took us to. Other hobbies i have developed include golfing, baseball, ultimate Frisbee and a lot of other sports. I absolutely love to help people and do service. I think I could add that to my hobby list. Since being called on a mission that hobby has grown into a lifestyle. I am a missionary and I am called to serve my mission in The Great California, Long Beach Mission after waiting for a Visa here for several months. I couldn’t imagine a better place to serve a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

What defines a Mormon? Why am I a Mormon? I have thought about these questions a few times to myself and I have always come to the same conclusion. I am a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ is the only church that obtains all the truth on the Earth today. If I know anything for a certainty it is this, The Book of Mormon IS the word of god. I know that from the very depths of my heart and CAN NOT deny it. I know this because i have read it and prayed to ask if it is true. I had an unmistakable feeling that can only come from the Holy Ghost. This knowledge has brought me to another conclusion, Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us, he wants us to live the commandments and return to him. We not only have to do this for our own salvation, but to be an example to everyone around us. We are the lights set on a hill. We have the Holy Ghost with us, now we need to be examples of it. I know that my Father in Heaven looks down on each of us and sees the light that we hold. To some he sees a candle, to others a roaring bon fire. I will strive to be that bon fire in his eyes and light up all those around me. I Am a Mormon because of the example I get to be, the opportunity I have to receive the Holy Ghost, and the Eternal principle of families forever. In all that I do and say, I Am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have always put effort into living my life the way Christ did. On my mission i have taken that to a new level. Not just putting effort into how I live my life, but asking myself if I am following Christ’s example or my own agenda. I do my best to put others first and accept that I have just as many faults as the next person. I have been a deacons and teachers' president, Elders quorum teacher, and recently first counselor in the young men's presidency in our ward, and later in our stake. I enjoy the youth and because I am still considered one I can relate very well with them. I love to see how they grow and how much faith they have. The most memorable moment I had while serving with the young men was watching them give their testimony. One day I will have a testimony as sincere and from the depths of my heart as those young men do. I will continually strive to live my life as best as I can, and work to be more Christ like. How would you be a Christian if your life didn’t lead people to believe that you are a disciple of Christ? I am a Christian, and my life will lead others to know that I am striving to be Christ like. That is how I will live my faith.
