Hi I'm Laurel

I grew up in Utah in a family with divorced parents. I am a healthy, happy person. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of seven children and the grandmother of 18. I have been married for 45 years with many more to come. I love to sew, read, watch movies, have dates with my husband, spend time with friends, travel, learn about history and the world, and much, much more. I adore my family and love to be with them. I am fascinated with stories of my ancestors. I have been a floral designer for nearly 30 years. I love to grow flowers. I enjoy the results of a job well done, as I have learned that work can be enjoyable and brings happiness. I am a creative person. I love color! I love to wear hats. Variety is the spice of my life, including my interesting children. My husband is my stable leveler and my rock.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and was raised in the LDS Church. I was taught since childhood to pray, to have respect for others, my elders, my leaders, my country, and my God. Through many experiences I was taught to recognize the Holy Ghost as it confirmed truth to my soul and directed and protected me many times in my life. My conversion did not take place all at once. I suppose it started with the seeds of faith planted in my heart as a small child. I have experienced questions, doubts, conflicting feelings from time to time. However, the certain proof of the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has come by living it. Just as in science, a theory must be tried to be proven valid. If one lives a principle to the best of one's ability, the blessings of the principle will be showered upon that person. I have received such blessings countless times! The promise in the Book of Mormon in Moroni 10:4-5 is the ultimate test and promise. Giving my best to the Lord, opening my heart and mind to His promptings and direction through the Holy Ghost, and repenting of my failings continues to confirm to me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, led by a true prophet today, with all the truth contained in the Savior's original church.

How I live my faith

I believe in being involved in the things that influence my home, family, and community. Because of that, I have worked in PTA, neighborhood organizations, and church organizations. I am a patriotic person, loyal to my country, and thus to my God. For many years I have taught classes for children, youth, and adults in church. I have made friends and learned lessons from serving with and for women I visit. Many of these women have become life-long friends, even if our ages are quite different. Making frequent visits to families with my husband has helped us to develop increased love for these people, as well as expanding our knowledge in many areas. Leading young people in spiritual and physical activities has deepened my faith in them, in my Heavenly Father, and in myself. I follow the admonitions of Christ for many reasons. First, I choose to obey the commandments so that I can return to live with my Savior and Heavenly Father one day. Second, I want to please them because I love them. Third, I strive to make whatever small payment I can to my Savior for his infinite sacrifice for me. Fourth, I believe it is the best way to lead a happy, fulfilled life. Fifth, I want to set an example for my family and posterity in living the way I know is right so that we can be together forever.
