Hi I'm Parker

I am a musician, and plan to be one for my entire life. I am going to be serving a mission in Lima Peru. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been attending BYU in Provo, Utah studying music. Since elementary school, my life has evolved around two things: the church and music. I recently had the opportunity to be apart of the BYU Young Ambassadors which combines those two things pretty nicely. I have always been heavily involved in jazz, classical, and other types of music. I am going to be serving a mission in Lima Peru and could not be more excited.

Why I am a Mormon

Having been born into the gospel, I certainly went through the mentality of "I am only apart of this because I was born into this." Because I had that thought, I set out to find out for myself whether or not this is the true gospel or not. One comes to a point where reliance on a parents' testimony is no longer good enough. I needed to find out for myself. I can say with conviction and confidence that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. Having read the Book of Mormon with an open mind and praying with real and sincere intent, I received a confirmation from the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is divinely inspired and that Joseph Smith did translate it. I still learn from the spirit every time I open that book -- no matter how many times I have read the same passage, I still learn something new every time I read it. Through my study and prayer, I have come to know for myself that Joseph Smith saw God the father and Jesus Christ. Joseph restored His gospel on the earth. We have a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who leads His church at this time. I have a testimony of temples; they are here not only to bless those who have passed on, but to bless as as we partake of the sacred ordinances inside the House of the Lord. Nothing brings me more joy than to worthily enter the temple and feel the overwhelming influence of the spirit every time I do. I also have a strong testimony of the atonement. It is infinite, and applicable to all who will come unto Him. His hand is stretched out to everyone willing to take hold and come unto him. I would urge all to humble themselves and come unto Christ; repentance is one of the great gifts that we have to remove the burden of guilt and be cleansed of our sins so that we may live in the presence of our Father in Heaven. I love this church, and say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

This last year I was in a student ward at BYU, and my responsibilities had to do with coordinating music in my ward. I have held leadership positions in some of the different groups involved with the youth in my ward and have taught primary for a short period of time before I left for school.
