Hi I'm Laurel

I am a neuroscience student. I served a mission in Bacolod, Philippines. I am an advocate for women's rights. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter of God. It may seem obvious but this simple statement is something that I have grown to understand and one which many people have yet to discover. I served as a full-time missionary in the Bacolod Philippines mission. I loved the people that I met and served and I was inspired by their example. While in the Philippines I learned of the beauty of simplicity, especially in the gospel. I am the youngest of 5 kids and I care deeply about my family. I am also the aunt to 5 adorable nephews and nieces. My family is both a part of who I am and who I want to be. While I have minimal musical talent I love music. I feel inspired by a powerful song or dance. I have traveled the world with my family and I have had the opportunity to learn so much from these experiences. I have visited over 20 countries which opened my mind to new ideas, new thoughts and new cultures. I care about the world and I am striving to find a way in which I can make the world a better place. Most of all, I wish to simply state that I love my Savior. This defines who I am more than any other statement could. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Having grown up in a family which was always active in the church made it easy for me to rely on the testimony of my parents for many years. However, I truly convert to the gospel as I grew older and read the scriptures on a daily basis. I developed my testimony as I prayed to my Heavenly Father and recieved answers to my prayers. I strengthen my testimony as I acted on my faith and obeyed the commandments. I believe that God lives as does his son, Jesus Christ. I believe that they love us unconditionally and hope for us to do what is right. I believe that the Book of Mormon will bring you closer to Christ and as you act on its principles you will find joy. I believe that Joseph Smith restored the gospel of Christ to the earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by follow the Savior's example. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ requires action. We show our faith by serving others and forgetting ourselves. I currently serve in the church by teaching young children about Jesus Christ and his teachings in the New Testament. I showed my faith by giving 18 months to serve as a missionary teaching the gospel to the people of the Philippines. This responsibility to share of Jesus Christ is a lifelong calling.
