Hi I'm Tyler

I grew up in Southeast Idaho, United States. I am serving a two year mission to Paris, France. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love to do anything outdoors! I've been into snowboarding, fishing, hiking, and camping since I was in middle school. I recently graduated high school and will soon be serving a two year mission to Paris, France. When I get home, I'll be going to Utah State University with the goal of becoming Physical Therapist someday. I have three younger brothers, which can get pretty interesting sometimes. We never worry about fighting over the bathroom in the mornings, just who gets to eat dinner first. I play baseball and run cross-country.

Why I am a Mormon

On paper, I am a Mormon because I grew up as a member of the church. But that doesn't really explain it. I'm a Mormon because I have been converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have studied the words of ancient and modern prophets, and have gained a knowledge of their truth. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to return to live with Him someday. He has always given His people prophets to lead them. They have given us our scriptures. He even gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer for the sins of all mankind. I KNOW that Jesus Christ is our Redeemer, and he has saved us from our sins if we will believe on Him. I also know that, after Christ's church was dissolved after the death of the apostles, Heavenly Father called a new prophet to restore the gospel and reveal doctrine again. This man's name was Joseph Smith. He received the call to translate an ancient record that is now the Book of Mormon. That is a book of true, holy scripture and Joseph Smith is a true prophet. Today, we still have a living prophet. His name is Thomas S. Monson. He directs the church according to revelation from God. I bear testimony that he is a true prophet of God. As members of Christ's church, we desire to share the message of His gospel. We don't do this because we want more numbers of members in the 'books'. We have found pure joy in the gospel of Jesus Christ and desire to share with those around us so that they can feel that same joy. One of the most amazing parts of this gospel is that it teaches us that families can be together forever. Forever! If we remain faithful and keep the commandments that he has given us, we have the opportunity to spend eternity with our family in the presence of God, who is our loving Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving those around me. One way I do this is by taking one night every week and visiting members of my ward. I dress up in my shirt and tie and, with another young man, visit people whom we are concerned about, whether because of health, difficult circumstances, or because they haven't been active in the church for a long time. Another example of service is doing family history work. I believe that there is so much to be said for understanding our heritage and appreciating where (and who) we come from. I also live my faith by trying to strengthen myself. I do this by study and by prayer. I have come to love to study the holy scriptures and gain so much strength from them. I know that they are true. I also know that when I open my heart and mouth and pray to God, He will ALWAYS answer me. He is our loving Heavenly Father, and he wants the very best for us.
