Hi I'm Russell deJesus.

I am a Communications major. I am originally Filipino, but adopted Dominican. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love studio art, music, comedy, medicine and science, cultures, and volunteering. I major in Communications heading toward speech and language pathology. I speak Tagalog, English, Spanish, American Sign Language, and Portuguese, with the goal of speaking 12 languages before I die! I lived in New Jersey for two years among the richest and poorest in America. As a result, I have come to appreciate the things in my life that I actually do have, especially a traditional family, a house, and supportive friends. I've combated dysthymia for a while now and now know that faith in Jesus Christ involves work. Happiness is a choice to be worked for, and we are always accountable for our actions and inactivity.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the clarity of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ that no other denomination or religion can provide. God restored that I am His child and He is my Father. I have the potential to become godly. I am human, prone to making mistakes. A modern apostle of Jesus Christ, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, declares that "surely the thing God enjoys most about being God is the thrill of being merciful, especially to those who don’t expect it and often feel they don’t deserve it. It is not possible for you to sink lower than the infinite light of Christ’s Atonement shines." I am a Mormon because the full effect of the Atonement is realized in this Church.

How I live my faith

I actively seek everyday ways to serve. I regularly participate in church services. I seek inspiration daily through prayer, scripture study, temple worship, and paying attention to and recalling the Lord's tender mercies. I involve myself in the community and excel at work, school, &c. I don't smoke, I don't look at pornography, I don't drink alcohol or use drugs.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Russell deJesus.
I believe that good things attract good people. Light cleaveth unto light, and so on (D&C 88:40). Good things come from God, and more and more people realize that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is good (Moroni 7:13, 16-17). The accelerated growth of the Church shows that people are actively seeking the truth, meaning that the world still has good people in it! Show more Show less
