Hi I'm Christina Foote

I'm mother of six and a grandmother of 8 but still a kid at heart. I'm an artist and a lover of nature. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of 6, a grandma of 8 and a fun loving kid at heart. I loved to go to parks and museums with my kids when they were young, and now go with my grandkids, and slide on the slides with them and explore all the cool stuff. I absolutely love being a parent and watching my kids learn and grow. I love seeing them be parents themselves now. I love being married to an amazing man. I love nature and hiking, especially to waterfalls. I love the peace that comes from being outdoors and am amazed at the individuality of each leaf and petal, each plant and animal, each rock and stream. Truly the earth gives me evidence of God's power and also his love for me and each of his children. I love art and have been fascinated all my life with watching art being created. About 6 years ago my daughter's high school art teacher offered to let me sit in on some of her classes and learn how to create art. I was amazed that with the right tools and some training I was actually able to create beautiful pieces of art. I love the creation process and went to 'school' about 4-5 days a week for almost 4 years. I wish I still took the time to create but rarely have time any more. I love to read and have tried to be a lifelong learner. I only went to college for a semester because I got married young and started having kids soon after but education is very important to me. Four of our children are college graduates and have married college graduates and the younger two will graduate soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the restored church that Jesus organized when he lived on the earth. I have prayed to know that this is true and God has answered my prayers. I have a peace in my life and a knowledge that I am a beloved child of a loving Heavenly Father who cares about me and is involved in my life. I can feel God's hand every day in my life when I am looking for it. I believe that he loves all of his children and is constantly sending us messages of His love. I feel that love when I see a beautiful sunset or the smiles of my sweet grandbabies. I feel his love when someone calls me when I really need a friend or things work out when it seemed impossible. I feel His love when I am asked to do something beyond my capacity, like organizing a 5 day camp for 125 girls, and then I pray for His help and I am given capacity beyond my own to help me succeed. I am a Mormon because I have had experience after experience that have strengthened my faith and helped me know that this is God's true church. I feel God's Spirit as I sing hymns, teach lessons, pray, give service, partake of the sacrament, testify of what I know is true and try to live my life in accordance with God's commandments. I feel His peace and His love and I know that I am on the path that leads back to my Heavenly home. I am so grateful to have that peace in my life. I know who I am and why I am here and who I can become. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and I know that it is through Him that I can be forgiven of my sins, that I can have the capacity to overcome my weaknesses and that I can be resurrected and live forever with my family and my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I recently was the director in helping organize a 5 day church camp for about 125 girls and 75 adult leaders. It was a lot of hard work but was so worth it as I was able to have a wonderful experience with all those beautiful young women as they had fun, learned outdoor skills, sang songs and were touched by the beauty of nature and the spirit of God that they felt there. One of my favorite parts of the camp was the solo time that we planned. Each person at camp took about 45 minutes to find a place to be alone with God in nature. Each of the girls had a letter from their parents to read as well as a picture of Jesus and several scriptures that told them how much God loves them. They were encouraged to pray to God and ask him if they really were his daughters and if he knew them and loved them. It was such a beautiful and powerful moment as we each individually received a loving answer from our Heavenly Father. I live my faith as I try to love and serve those around me, especially my family. I serve every Wednesday morning at the Las Vegas temple for 4 1/2 hours and love being able to go there every week. I visit several women every month to share a spiritual message with them and be their friend, and be there as a support to them. For four years I taught a 45 minute scripture study class for high school students every school morning at 6:00 am. It was a huge challenge to be ready with a lesson every morning but with God's help I was able to do it and even enjoy it, even though I am definitely not a morning person. Our four boys each served a two year mission for the church. It was hard to have them gone for so long but was such a blessing to their lives and to our family as they dedicated that time to God and sharing his gospel with the people of England, Texas, Brazil and El Salvador. Our youngest daughter will be serving a mission in the Philippines soon.
