Hi I'm Corbin

I am a BYU student. I am preparing to serve a mission in Peru. I love traveling and meeting new people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student trying to decide whether to study Psychology or Political Science. I enjoy learning about people, places, culture, history, and religion. I am originally from Southern California, and miss the beach every moment I am away from it. I visit California at every chance I have. I grew up in Utah, and recently moved to Oklahoma with my family. I have been a member of the Church my whole life and love it! I love swimming in my pool, running, going to museums, watching black and white movies, spending time with my family and friends, going on adventures, reading classics, hiking, traveling, and meeting new people. I have a goal to take a picture in front of every state line sign in the U.S. before I die. I currently volunteer regularly at my local hospital and love being involved in the community. I have one little sister who is my best friend, a fat cat, amazing parents, and the greatest friends in the whole world. I absolutely love life, and believe that everything happens for a reason and that there can always be rays of sunshine on cloudy days.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my religion! It brings me comfort and peace. My religion gives me purpose in life. I know that I am here for a reason, and what I do during my life matters in the long run. This knowledge motivates me to not only try to be the best I can be, but share that knowledge with others, because it brings me happiness and I want others to be happy too. One of the greatest blessings that I have received from my participation in the Church is the knowledge that I can be with my family forever. My family means more to me than anything in the world, and I can't imagine being happy without knowing that I could be with them for eternity. I know that since we were sealed together in the temple, that I can be with them after this life. Even though I was born into the Church and have been taught the Gospel throughout my life, I have received a knowledge for myself that it is true. I have prayed about the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, our current prophet, and the other teachings of the Church so that I can know for myself that this is Heavenly Father's true church restored upon the earth. The answer has come to me little by little as I have attended church, read my scriptures, participated in Church activities, attended the temple, and prayed. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true, and that by keeping the commandments and the covenants that I have made, that I can return to live with my Father in Heaven and my family for eternity.

How I live my faith

I love talking to others about my religion! During this past year at college I made the decision to serve a mission for 18 months. I received my mission call in May to Lima, Peru, and I couldn't be more excited! I can't wait to go on a new adventure and teach others about the happiness that I experience from being a member of the Church. Since I grew up in Utah, I didn't know many people who had different beliefs from mine. In elementary school I only had one friend that didn't share my faith. When I was eight years old, I invited him to my baptism, and gave him a Book of Mormon with my testimony of its truthfulness on the inside cover. Even though this was a small gesture, I loved having the opportunity to share the Gospel, and wanted the opportunity to share with more people. Now that I live in Oklahoma, I often have the opportunity to share what I believe with others. As I volunteer in the hospital, many people have asked if I'm going back to college in the fall. I explain that I am going on a mission for my church for 18 months, but will return to school afterwards. Talking about my mission opens the doors for sharing my beliefs and the joy I feel because of my membership in the Church. I can't wait to be able to share the Gospel with even more people as I serve as a full-time missionary in Peru.
