Hi I'm Alexis

I'm an amateur runner, an aspiring scientist, a devoted sister. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student and I love the college life. I enjoy learning and committing myself to serious study to bring about my best success. While I do not have much spare time I always try to make time to run, even if it means waking up twenty minutes earlier. Running helps me clear my head and re-focus my life. I take pleasure in being outdoors, and I like to hike, canoe, bike, wakeboard, ski, and snowshoe. I also enjoy playing tennis, preforming the piano or violin in church, shopping, playing boardgames with my siblings, checking the news, and reading any of the classics. Currently I am preparing to serve a mission in the Philippines Cauayan mission. I am excited to share the good news of this gospel with the people of the Philippines, and am ready for the challenge!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church, but around the age of eight-when I was baptized- I knew for myself that this is the true church. I felt the spirit, which was a warm comforting feeling, when I read my scriptures and prayed to my Heavenly Father. I still have those same warm feelings now when I pray and read my scriptures. While there is historical evidence supporting the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith, I am not a Mormon because of what has historically been proven. I am a Mormon because I feel it to be true and to be right. I have informed myself on this religion, I have tested it by living the standards, and I have felt it to be right. I am a Mormon because God's Holy Spirit has confirmed to me that it is true.

How I live my faith

Every morning I wake up and read my scriptures- even if I only have five minutes to do so. After I read my scriptures I always pray to my Heavenly Father. I thank Him for the things He has given me, and I explain to Him what I would like to accomplish that day, making sure to respectfully ask for His help. By starting my day off with this exercise I live my life with God on my side. I try to do things that He would want me to do, and I to look for opportunities to serve others in a way that He would want me to. I try to live my faith every day by staying in close contact with my Heavenly Father and leaning on Him for help, guidance, and direction.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Alexis
We have been commanded to "feast upon the words of Christ, for the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do" (2 Nephi 32:3). To me, this is the greatest blessing of reading the scriptures; we receive personal direction and revelation. Life is full of questions, choices, and confusions, but through the scriptures we can receive answers to all. By turning to the scriptures I have known what college I should attend, whether I should serve a mission, how I can make better friends, what I should major in, and how to be happier. When we read the scriptures light and knowledge flow into our lives. With the scriptures I can live my life with certainty instead of confusion, and to me this is a great blessing! Show more Show less
