Hi I'm Mark Messick

Entrepreneur. Bestselling Author. Follower of Christ.

About Me

I'm a writer. I have a deep passion for writing, and have authored 12 books. Several of which outsold Donald Trump's bestselling book. So yeah. That was pretty neat. All of my books are about goals and motivation and "happiness hacks" and boring self-help mumbo jumbo like that. But people keep reading them, so I'll probably keep writing them. I'm also very interested in business and entrepreneurship, and have started a good half dozen businesses over the last few years. Some have been rather successful. Some haven't. But most importantly, I've been a proud member of the LDS Church for the last 10 years, and have absolutely no regrets. I've attended other churches in an attempt to seek out the truth. And I'm positive that I've found it right here. Nothing else out there brings me as much happiness as the Gospel of Jesus Christ does. I like to consider myself a bit of a "happiness expert", as I've made a good career out of writing books that have helped tens of thousands of people to live happier, more fulfilling lives. I get emails all the time from people explaining how much my advice has helped them. But I can testify that none of my little happiness tips or tricks even come close to providing me the amount of happiness that this Church does. I love it with all of my heart. It's changed who I am as a person, and I can't even imagine what my life would be like today without it.

Why I am a Mormon

This is the true Church. I'm sure of it. It rings true in both my head and my heart. When you take the time to sit down and really understand what the Church is about and what the Gospel teaches...it all makes sense. I'm a very logical and proof-driven guy, but this Church holds up to my deepest scrutiny. There are no cracks. What other Church can say the same thing? But my belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ goes further than what I've deduced logically. More than anything, I'm a Mormon because of the peace, relief, and happiness that I feel when I follow the teachings of this Church. I've tried living other lifestyles. I haven't always followed the Mormon teachings. And let me tell you...every time I stray my life gets so much harder. My stress increases ten fold. I have trouble finding joy for more than a few minutes at a time. But when I follow the teachings of the Mormon Church, my life is filled with light, peace, and direction. I challenge you to test out my theory for yourself. I'm positive you'll come to the same conclusion that I have, along with the millions of other Mormons. This Church, above all else, will bring you happiness in a way that nothing else can.

How I live my faith

I'm a busy guy. I've got books to write, deadlines to meet, media engagements to fulfill, promotional outlets to contact, and interviews to attend. And I love it. You couldn't pay me enough to give up the career I have right now. But none of that is nearly as important as this Gospel. My Savior Jesus Christ comes first in everything I do. I try my best to live every day in a way that would please Him. I'm careful in the things that I say and do. Because of Him I make sure that I attend Church every Sunday. I read the scriptures for 30-90 minutes each day. I make time for my family. I strive love everyone, even if they've given me reason to dislike them. And I do everything I can to stand as a witness for Christ, and act as I know He wants me to.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Mark Messick
There are numerous reasons why we were sent to Earth but the main ones are: 1) To receive a physical body. 2) To learn and grow both spiritually and mentally. 3) To see whether or not we're worthy to return to live with our Heavenly Father in an exalted state. Show more Show less
