Hi I'm Jimmy Rigby

I grew up in Qatar. I've traveled the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

All through high school I played basketball religiously. I loved the sport. My junior year I hurt my self in a game and was unable to play at the same level I was playing before. In order to fill this void in my life i turned to music. Music is my life. No matter what mood I am in or whats going on in my life I can find a song that fits perfectly with that moment. I play guitar well and know the piano alright. I am also learning to play the banjo. I lived in Texas for the first half of my live in the Houston area. After middle school I moved to Qatar with my family. I graduated high school there and was able to see parts of the world that I would have never been able to see. I have been to Egypt, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, and many more places. I loved being able to see all the different cultures and learn about the people we visited. I hope to be able to continue my travels some day.

Why I am a Mormon

While I did grow up in the church I do have my own conversion story in a way. I never was a fan of going to the meetings on Sunday and was quite content doing whatever I wanted regardless of what my religion said. When I left to college this all changed. Given the freedom to do what i wanted outside of my parents house, I quickly realized that the values the Church taught were not meant to limit me but meant to allow me to live a happy and productive life. It took a while for this to sink in and I am still working on my own faults but I do have a personal testimony of the Church and all it teaches.

How I live my faith

Up until a few months ago I was just an average member of the Church. I attended sacrament meeting, went to Sunday School, and went to priesthood meeting. For the most part i just tried to live according to what i believed in. Now, however, I am going to serve a mission and help share what has guided me so much in my life. I am excited to show people how they can use gospel principles to improve their quality of life.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Jimmy Rigby
The word of Wisdom is one of the things that sets us apart from other religions and is asked about a lot by people who are curious about the Church. We believe that our body is a gift from God and that it is our duty to keep our body healthy and clean. Our prophets have told us if we do not use tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, and illegal drugs we will have improved physical and mental health. Since the law was given to us by God, research has reinforced many of the same principles that the law promotes. Show more Show less
