Hi I'm Ken

I grew up in Kansas City and left to go to Law School where I met the missionaries and became a Mormon.

About Me

I had always wanted to be a lawyer growing up and use that to help people. I got married before leaving for home for Law School and we now have three teen-aged sons. After completing Law School I landed a job in a small town that was to last a year and then I was going to return home. I have yet to make it home, and have stayed for almost 20 years now. After working at several different jobs in the legal profession, I am currently a public defender. I enjoy what I do, as I have the opportunity to try and help those that are at the lowest points of their lives. I enjoy getting out and spending time with my wife and sons, I am currently involved in the Boy Scout organization and enjoy working with the youth. I am active also in the local geocaching organization.

Why I am a Mormon

I think I became a Mormon because I believe in a kind and loving Heavenly Father. A Heavenly Father that loves all his children and would not treat us differently just because of where we live or when we were born. His is a gospel of inclusion not one of exclusion. When the Missionaries first presented us with the Plan of Salvation and that everyone would have the same opportunity to learn about it, either now or in the next life, it rang true to my soul. Then when I prayed about it, I felt the love of my Father in Heaven's confirmation through the Holy Spirit. This Church is the only one that I have found that teaches that all people can make it to Heaven, not just those that were baptized in the right Church in this life. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. That through His Atonement and Resurrection, we have the opportunity to return to our Heavenly Father's presence and live with him forever.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to help those around me both at Church and in the community. Because of my job, I get exposure to those that are in trouble. When I interact with them, I think about the potential each individual has and try to treat them as child of our Heavenly Father. I also enjoy teaching others every chance I can while working in our Church's Sunday School Organization.
