Hi I'm Donovan

I live in Idaho. I want to become a doctor. I play trombone. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently preparing to serve a mission. I have just graduated from high school. I love music. I play trombone and piano and I also am learning how to compose music as well. I really enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also really enjoy archery.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my family. Both of my parents are LDS so i received the wonderful opportunity to grow up in this church. I stay a Mormon because of my faith. I believe in Jesus Christ and his Atonement. I love Him for the chance that he has given me to repent and try to become the best person I can be. I am very grateful for the chance that I have to serve a mission and I hope that I can show others just how good this Gospel is. My faith has been challenged and it hasn't been easy. I've had struggles and problems and I have felt fear and suffered loss. I made it through though and I am a better person for it. I try my hardest and do my best and still fall short because I am human. Through the Atonement, I can keep going. Christ is my rock, and His example leads me on a better path.

How I live my faith

I find that the best way for me to live my faith is through service. I help with service projects that our ward puts together and I also help with community ones as well. I really enjoyed helping at our community dinner table, where we serve a meal to anyone who comes. I was part of the entertainment for that. I played piano and tried to express my feelings through my music.

What is being a Mormon like?

Donovan
That's similar to asking "What is being Christian like?" or "what is being Muslim like?". I am just like anyone else. I have good times and bad. I have good friends and a loving family. Being a member of this church is really not about the church at all, it's about how well you live the doctrine that we teach. I love this church because it makes me happy. Now granted, there are a lot of rules that you need to live by, but they are for your protection. Living an honest life is challenging in this world, but you come out the better for it. Living a chaste life is very difficult and you could even say unusual in our society. But if you do, you don't have to worry about diseases, or abortions, or a myriad of other things that come with that. The children that may be conceived will be better off with a mom and a dad married for their support system and the parents are better off when they have each other to rely on. So you see that the rules are good and not restricting. They create room for us to grow, learn and advance our understanding. I love the Gospel and I believe it to be true. I know that, even though it's hard to describe, being a Mormon is the best thing that has happened to me. I believe in the importance of standards and I applaud all those who keep to them. That is what being a Mormon is. Keeping the standards, holding to the faith and believing that there is better things to come. Show more Show less
