Hi I'm Johnathon

I am in the US Navy, a caring husband, and a converted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

I am a Nuclear Mechanic in the United States Navy and therefore I get to move around a lot and see a lot of nice things. Also, that being so, I get to meet a lot of new people. I am very happily married and can't wait to spend the rest of eternity with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I credit becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to my loving wife. You see, she is a lifelong member of the church and she found me, a young boy lost in the bad in the world, and happened to turn me around. I had never even thought of becoming a member of the church(mostly because I really didn't even know about it). I was a believer of Christ, but never a church goer. I grew up having never read the Bible much and only having gone to church(a Baptist church down the street) a few times here and there and never really thought much of it. Then, my wife and I became close, and looking back now, I can see that she was always being a little missionary, inviting me to random church events but never pushing too hard. Soon enough, we were married, and I moved her far from her family to my first duty station in the Navy and because she didn't know anyone there, she begged me to attend church with her. From there, the seed was planted. We moved to our next duty station and sure enough, it was the same story, but this time, I was a little happier to go along until finally, after being asked to pass the sacrement one Sunday morning and having to decline due to not being a member, the missionaries got hold of me and I started my lessons. Not long after, I was Baptized and Confirmed a member of this great church and with every day that passes, I find another reason to "Why I am a Mormon".

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day by trying to be an honest and caring man, you know, "Love thy neighbor". I try to take everything that I learn from the church and apply it in my every day life, which is hard. Being in the Navy, I am around a lot of things that the church teaches against, but through Christ, I know that I am safe. I try to teach others that I am around some of the things that the church teaches me, because I feel that everyone, no matter what faith they have, can benifit from the teachings of Christ. I also serve in the church as well whether it be in Sunday school or with the youth or just being a Priesthood holder, I try to ensure others are doing well. And that being said, I feel that helping others and being Christ-like should be an everyday thing, not just for however long you are at church on Sunday.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Johnathon
To me, testimony is the feeling that you have of knowledge. When Mormons get up and bear our testimonies, we are standing up and speaking to how we feel. We are informing others of our beliefs and knowledge of things such as our Heavenly Father, Christ, and even just our church in itself. We are standing and speaking, for all to know, our feelings of the truths that we know of this church. Show more Show less
