Hi I'm Ryn

I play the viola, run marathons and have a passion forcooking and being healthy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am passionate about music. I study viola performance in college and I love to sing. I really enjoy cooking and I am constantly looking for new ways to be inventive with the flavor palate and health of my recipes. I also love to run. I have completed three marathons and plan to complete many more. I find running to be a great way to think and pray. I am a big advocate of the importance of the arts and I love to draw, especially people and nature.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to have the opportunity to grow up in a family where both parents had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and were active in the Mormon church. We read out of the scriptures regularly and participated in youth programs offered by the church. I learned what I call the "how" of the gospel of Jesus Christ, what He taught us to do while on the earth, as well as the commandments He has revealed through living prophets. I felt the truth of the teachings, but it wasn't until I was older that I really learned to access Christ's atonement in my life. When I was nineteen my mother died in a tragic accident. She was only fifty years old and had seven children. My little sister was nine at the time. After my mother passed away I was very confused and questioned the truth of what I had learned in church. I felt alone, lost and even angry at times. I tried to make sense of things in my head, but it never worked, I always ended up feeling more confused. Then I decided to exersize my faith to focus on what I knew and what I had been taught instead of focusing on what I didn't know. I prayed and studied and tried to do what I believed to be right. As I contimued to do so, in my heart I came to know that the commandments, as taught in the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (or Mormon church) are from God. I came to have a closer relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ. I have been through hard things, and so has each person, many have been through things much worse than I have. I don't know what you have been through, but I have found a source of peace and comfort- and a best friend in my Savior, and I know that you can do the same. I know that Christ loves me, and gives me experiences to help me grow. I know that He will never leave us alone when we turn to Him. My testimony enables me to do great things. It brings power and strength into my daily life. God loves you. He wants to know you, act on whatever faith you have, and it will grow, I promise!

How I live my faith

I have served as a teacher for the women in my congregation and I am currently serving as a full-time missionary for the Lord, where I will find and invite others to Christ. I will be serving for eighteen months.

What is faith?

To have faith is to focus on, and act on what you do know. It is testing and trusting in the things you learn about Jesus Christ and His gospel. As we exersize, or act on what we know, what we know is added to. As we continue in faith we can come to a greater understanding of God's plan, and of His plan for us. Show more Show less
