Hi I'm Mitchell

I grew up in Utah. Currently going to the University of Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years-old and just finished my first year of college up at the University of Utah. Right now my plan is to serve my mission, and then afterwards get into the U's Architecture Program. In my spare time I love to sit back and relax, and occasionally start an art piece that will never get finished.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up there was never really an option as far as my parents were concerned. I was going to Church every Sunday and that was that. It wasn't until recently that I really needed to decide for myself whether this Church was true or not. My mission call played a big role in that. Two years is a pretty big deal considering that it is 1/10 of the time I have already spent on this earth. Not to mention that I will be missing both my younger siblings' graduations, and a few cousins leaving on their missions. But as I have studied the Book of Mormon, I have come to a greater knowledge of the gospel. I have also had numerous experiences of the Lord's presence in my life, and seen Him in the lives of family members and friends. To deny that those experiences happened would be a flat-out lie.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church on a weekly basis, and spending a good portion of that time teaching 6 year-old kids in my class. Although it can test your faith (and patience) at times, I still love seeing their smiling faces on Sunday! I will soon be leaving to serve in the Chile Antofagasta Mission and am very anxious and nervous to do so. However I know that Chile is where the Lord wants me to go, even though I have been planning on South Africa throughout my childhood. My confirmation came to me a week after I had received my call. I was going to spend two years in this part of the world, so I figured that I should learn as much as I could about the area before I left, and what is the number one most reliable source on pretty much any topic?... Wikipedia. As I was reading the Wikipedia entry on Antofagasta Chile, I stumbled upon my confirmation. According to Wikipedia, one translation of the word "Antofagasta" is "town of the Great Salt Lake". You first need to understand that my Mom had been praying for the Salt Lake City East Mission which is only twenty minutes from where I live. All I need to say is that the Lord definitely has a sense of humor; I just hope my Mom thinks it's funny!
