Hi I'm Maria

I come from a big and loving family. I love playing soccer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old and have been attending college for the past year. I attended 3 colleges in one year and I made a tough move from Utah to Washington when I was 16 years old. I guess you could say I am used to moving around. My passion is playing soccer. My whole family, there's 9 of us, plays or has played soccer at some point in their life. I chose to give up playing soccer in my premier league when I moved to Washington. I decided to try some new things like cross country and basketball. I have been a soccer referee and a nanny and I love working with little children. I love to cook, play the piano, sing, and spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so grateful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It truly brings me so much joy and peace. I am a Mormon because everything in the church makes sense. It's not always easy to follow what I have been taught. It's also not always accepted in the world, but it is the right thing and it brings me true happiness. There are many things that set this church a part from others. A couple being Joseph Smith or the Book of Mormon. I can say right now with all of my heart that I have read the Book of Mormon and I know of its power and truth. Joseph Smith was called as a prophet by God to bring forth the Book of Mormon. It is here for us to read and use in our lives. I know that if you read this book and ask God if it is true with real intent, you will be able to know for yourself as I know for myself. I know that God knows each and every one of us individually. I know that Jesus is the Christ. He came, suffered, and died for us so that we can return to our Father in Heaven if we have followed him. He will come again. I wish for everyone to come unto Christ and to truly set their lives in a way that would be pleasing to him. This is my prayer and testimony.

How I live my faith

While growing up in the church, I have had the opportunity to be a leader over many youth groups. I also visit other amazing woman in the church to see how their lives are and how I can help them. During my time at college, I was able to complete family history work. I have recently been called to serve as a missionary for my church. I will have the opportunity to perform services for others and also bring them closer to Jesus Christ. With this unique opportunity has come many chances to speak to youth groups about how to prepare for such a service.
