Hi I'm McKensie Bellomy

I'm a wife, a daughter, a sister, a student, and a 2nd grade teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with 3 older brothers, therefore I love sports and the outdoors. In High School I was on the basketball and the cross country team. I love to hike and camp in the beautiful outdoors! I also love to cook, food is one of the best parts of my life. I recently got married in December 2012; I love being a wife. I enjoy all of the time I spend with my husband, we have a lot of fun together - but our favorite activity is going to dinner. I'm also a student at Brigham Young University, but this Fall I will be starting as a 2nd grade teacher and I am so excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when I was 8 years old, and recently baptized, I decided to read the Book of Mormon. At that young age reading scripture was difficult and it took me two years to get through it. Finally, at 10 years old, I knelt down in prayer to ask my Heavenly Father if it was true. As a child I expected God to send angels to tell me it was true, but He didn't. Instead I felt the Holy Ghost start something in my heart. It was a still, small feeling that soon spread throughout my body. I found that I couldn't stop smiling, and that was all I needed; I knew that the Book of Mormon was true - therefore I knew the whole Church was true! Since then I have dedicated my life to learning more about the gospel and growing stronger as a member. I know the church is true and I will never deny it or fall away. Living the gospel has made my life so happy and fulfilling, and I'm only 21 years old! I can't wait for what the future holds because no matter what comes my way I know I can withstand the storms of this life because I am a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Being in a Mormon ward has created great opportunities for me. Presently I am the Primary President in my ward. I have always loved children, which is partly why I decided to become an elementary school teacher! Serving as Primary President I am a steward over all of the children in my ward from ages 18 months to 11 years old. I love teaching them about the gospel of Jesus Christ, I love to see their eyes light up as they reach a new understanding or concept. Children have some of the best insights and I think I learn more from them then they learn from me! We also hold fun activities during some weekdays for the kids. As primary leaders we organized a water balloon volleyball game in our apartment quad and all of the kids had a blast, as did we!

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

McKensie Bellomy
I have found in my own life that as I study and read the scriptures I have an extra portion of happiness. I love to read the scriptures because they give me spiritual strength so it is easy for me to withstand the temptations of the devil. Most importantly, to me, the scriptures have become a source for answers to my prayers. When I pray for answers I can start reading in the scriptures and somehow the context always applies to my life and worries. The scriptures are such a source of peace for me. Show more Show less
