Hi I'm Marsha

I am originally from Cotulla, Texas and my youngest son is a Mormon also. I recently joined the church.

About Me

I am a mother of three, all my children are grown, with only my youngest belonging to the LDS church. I love to volunteer and help others when possible. Music is one of my hobbies, I love to sing. I just started drawing again, I hadnt done it in years. I have taught Girls in Action when I was at a former church and enjoy teaching youth. It was an afternoon program for girls in elementary to just drop by and learn scripture and eat some snacks. I also enjoy playing tennis, although I am not very good, but I am not bad. If I had to decide between jogging or walking it would be walking. Leisurely.

Why I am a Mormon

I had read my Bible extensively over a period of 37 years and I was in another church for about the same time...I never experienced or practiced hopping from church to church, but educated myself on other belief systems. I continued to thirst for something that would give me joy and peace, and of course, knowledge. Without the latter you cannot encounter the first two. I had read some LDS materials many many years ago and had previous study some time back. It wasn't until this year (thank God) that I was able to completely grasp the Gospel the way it was intended to be read. Of all the things I have ever done in my life....reading the Book of Mormon was the biggest, most impacting step I would take in my life. I have always been a good person, and have been very charitable and loving to others but always felt something great missing. It is thru the study of the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that I have been able to acquire great understanding. I welcome anyone to further look into our Church as we are....at best...just like you...human...frail sometimes, but we have a common cord in our lives now that unifies and strengthens us.

How I live my faith

I enjoy participating in choir activities whenever possible, I have gone on some hometeaching and found it thoroughly uplifting. I have also been able to make my immediate family like my brothers and parents more familiar with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They were all excited when I was baptized, so were my older two kids, so I think I will be able to further impact them positively. I respect their opinions and they respect my decision to join LDS and it has been an awesome experience from the get go.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Marsha
Without the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ you cannot have the tools that you need in your everyday life to live as Jesus did. The scriptures in the Bible along with your Book of Mormon will help you to become closer and closer everyday with your heavenly father God. Without asking the Holy Ghost to reveal these truths to you, you are depending on your own understanding to interpret the truth. As you pray to the Holy Ghost to help you, you will find peace in all you read and it will make you want to read more and eventually you will desire the things of God. Show more Show less
