Hi I'm Eric Jones

I love to sing! I play the guitar! I love popcorn! And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I spent two semesters at Snow College studying nothing in particular, but just working on general studies. I love playing the guitar and singing, I can find a true passion in music. I also enjoy theatre, and performing onstage. One of the most fun productions I've ever been a part of was "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" where I played the part of Snoopy. I love playing The Legend of Zelda and Sonic the Hedgehog, and some of my favorite movies include The Dark Knight series, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Wreck-it-Ralph, and anything Marvel.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born and raised in the church, there came a time in my life when I needed to discover the truth of what I had been taught for myself. Because of the righteous examples of my parents, I was taught from a very young age how to pray. Prayer was then, and is still now, something that I hold very special. It is the means in which we all can communicate with our Heavenly Father, and although I am not perfect at it, I know that I can pray to God and talk with him about anything. At this particular time in my life when I desired to know for myself the truthfulness of what the church taught, I knew that it all weighed on the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon; if the Book of Mormon was true, then all truths that were taught within the church followed. I prayed and asked God if the Book of Mormon was true and I didn't receive an answer right away, but the feelings that I had when I prayed were good. Our Heavenly Father answers in his own way and in his own time, but he always answers. As I've continued to study, attend church meetings, and pray to know of the truth for myself, Heavenly Father has answered me by the power of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true and that this is, indeed, his true and living church here upon the earth. I have felt the guilt, shame, and sorrow that comes from making mistakes. Due to this mortal life we will all make mistakes and experience the consequences of sin. I have experienced these feeling for myself, but, on the other hand, I have also experienced the joy and the peace of conscience that comes from the grace and mercy of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Through Christ and His atoning sacrifice all can be redeemed and forgiven for the sins that they have committed, if they choose it. Jesus Christ and His sacrifice has allowed me the chance to change and to become a better person. The negative feelings we have that result from our weaknesses and short-comings can be washed away through Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by striving to apply Christ's gospel to my every day life. I strive to grow closer to Him and to my Heavenly Father as I learn more of Them by reading the scriptures and praying to my Father in Heaven daily. I know that I can turn to my Heavenly Father for anything and that he will listen. I live my faith by sharing what I believe with others. I know of what Jesus Christ has done for me in my own life and I want others to see, and feel, and understand what He can do for them. I live my faith by extending an arm of friendship out to others. We are all brothers and sisters, spirit children of our Heavenly Father, and we are all in this mortal existence together! I live my faith by serving others around me. I love the good feelings that come from helping other people; I believe we all can experience these feelings when we reach out to our brothers and sisters in love.
