Hi I'm Zaven

I've lived many places in my life and met people from all walks of life. I love making new friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Zaven and I have been a Mormon all my life. I have lived many places and traveled a lot and have been blessed to meet thousands of interesting people. I have lived in 3 states: California, Texas, and Utah. I currently live in Fruit Heights, Utah, the place I have called home longer than anywhere else in my life. I have a very interesting and unique name that gets a lot of attention. "Zaven" is an Armenian name, as I am 1/2 Armenian. It's meaning is "Noble." My father is Armenian, while my mother has many ethnic groups in her family, predominantly French-Canadian. Some of my favorite hobbies are swimming, basketball, watching sports, four-wheeling, and hanging out with my friends. I recently finished my first year at Utah State University, in Logan, Utah. It is an incredible place, I highly recommend going there and I especially recommend going to the basketball and football games! I am an Aggie for life! On July 31, 2013 I will be entering the Provo MTC before several months later flying to the Philippines to serve my mission in the Philippines Cauayan Mission. I am very excited to serve in such a unique, intriguing part of the world, with so many incredible people!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been Mormon all my life. Honestly, at times the covenants and commandments I have agreed to live by seem restricting, overbearing, and ridiculous. I have never really "fallen away" from the church, but I have had plenty of times in my life where I knew I was just going through the motions. Throughout my life, however, I have found that although it is never easy, it is always worth keeping the commandments. Even small sins that may not seem like a big deal can become bigger ones, and even if you never make the mistake again, you'll feel better living the right way.

How I live my faith

As stated in the last section, I am currently preparing to serve my mission in the Philippines. It is a very busy, hectic time in my life, but more than anything, it is very exciting! I also have served in many other callings in the church, including: Family Home Evening Group Leader, Priest's Quorum Secretary, Teacher's Quorum 2nd Counselor, and Deacon's Quorum 1st Counselor. I have also had the privilege of baptizing my sister very recently. I love reading my scriptures, but have not always been as good at that as I'd like throughout my life. It is something almost everyone needs to work on! I also love praying to my Heavenly Father morning and night, it is great to speak to him and also to read my scriptures to have him speak to me and give me inspiration.
