Hi I'm Paul Sorensen

I am a retired engineer from Phoenix, Arizona. My wife and I look forward to serving a mission together. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Phoenix, AZ native who recently retired after working for 36 years as a mechanical engineer. I am married with 4 children and 6 great-grand kids. While staying active playing racquetball as long as I can remember, my greatest fun has been boating and spending time at the lake with my family. My best friend is my wife and the idea of spending more time together through retirement is exciting.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a family that were members of the LDS Church. As I grew up I recognized the feelings and promptings of the Holy Ghost as I participated in the meetings and functions at church. Classes taught me how I could receive a testimony and knowledge for myself, that the Church is true. I followed this direction and through reading the Book of Mormon and praying, I learned for myself many important things. I came to a knowledge that the Book of Mormon is true and was translated by Joseph Smith through the power of God. This means that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that the Priesthood and Authority of God was restored to the earth. I know that there is a prophet on the earth today at the head of Christ's church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This knowledge brings me happiness and peace, lasting happiness that endures the trials, difficulties, unknowns of life. I know that our Savior loves everyone of His children and desires this happiness for everyone. And it is possible by following the same steps that I took; learning, reading, and prayer.

How I live my faith

I have always been active in the LDS Church and it has been a big part of my life. My faith and testimony has increased and been strengthened as I have served others through service in the Church. My service or callings have varied from teaching a Sunday class to small children, to spending a number of years as a Scout Master, to presiding over congregations of 600 members and multiple congregations including 5000 members. As a young man I had the opportunity to serve as a missionary for two years in England. This was a great opportunity that taught me so many things about myself and people. I have seen and learned that as I serve others in the way our Savior taught, it brings me closer to Him and I have become a better person by gaining some of the qualities he emulated.
