Hi I'm Melissa

I grew up in a small, Idaho town. I am a college student. I am a convert to the Church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an identical twin, and even though there's someone I love who is a lot like me, I know that I am complete unique and precious to my Father in Heaven - a truth which gives me great comfort. I know that I am a daughter of God, and it's probably my favorite personal identifier. I love knowing that I am literally His spirit daughter. I am currently a university student in Utah. I love to learn new things and to gain more knowledge. I'm currently studying social work, and I hope to be able to use the talents I've been given to help others around me by serving them in this line of work. One of my favorite things to do is to run - I'm by no means the most talented of runners, but I love it and it always helps me relieve stress and feel so good. Living the Gospel genuinely excites me, and that's because of the great happiness that it brings into my life. I love to laugh and smile - and I've done a whole lot more of that since the day I chose to accept the Gospel into my life and be baptized. I'm just an ordinary girl who loves life and who loves living it to the fullest.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have prayed to know and have received a sure testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of God. I know that it is a restoration of the same church that Jesus Christ established while in His earthly ministry. I lived a large portion of my life without the fullness of the Gospel, and I know that no greater joy comes in life than from living the Gospel. I know that this is the path that Heavenly Father desires for me to take. I know that The Book of Mormon truly is another testament of Jesus Christ; it has helped me to know and more fully love the Savior and feel His great love as well. I truly know that Joseph Smith truly did see God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, and that he received the proper authority from God and restored Christ's church upon the earth. I am a Mormon because I have prayed earnestly to know the truth of these things, and having received a sure witness, I could never turn away from such precious truth. I know that families can be together forever through sacred ordinances that take place in the holy temples of God and by following the Father's plan. I am a Mormon because I have received incredible happiness and peace through this wonderful Gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying each day to be better by striving to follow the perfect example of Jesus Christ. Each day, I try a little harder to be a little better. I pay tithing, read my scriptures and pray everyday, attend the temple often, and try my hardest to keep the commandments. I also love to serve others and look for opportunities to help out whenever I can. I do these things not to check them off a list, but because I know that they genuinely make me happy, make Heavenly Father happy, and ultimately bring me closer to Him. I do these things because I want to and have a genuine desire to. I am by no means perfect, but I recognize that because Christ atoned for each of our sins, shortcomings, pains, and anguishes, that I can turn to Him, earnestly repent and be cleansed, and strive each day to be better. I live my faith by striving each day to deepen my relationship with my Savior and with my Heavenly Father.
