Hi I'm Scott Higgins

I'm an athlete, a music lover, an avid reader, a proud brother and son, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest child in my family, and I have two little sisters. I just finished up my freshman year at Georgia Tech where I am pursuing degrees in Biochemistry and Computer Science. I love sports, and I actively play basketball and ultimate frisbee. I love listening to music as much as I can, I'll almost always have country music playing in the background. I am especially excited about my mission. I'm currently serving in the Salt Lake City West mission, teaching the people here in the Spanish language. I love being a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and it was all I knew growing up. As I got older and learned about other beliefs, I knew that this was the right church for me. The feeling I have when I'm in Sunday School or spending time with the youth group is something that I have never been able to recreate elsewhere. I truly gained a testimony when I went off to college. At that point, I had all the freedom in the world; I could chose to do or not do anything that I wanted. I quickly realized that when I chose to conduct myself as I had been taught in church as a child by following the Gospel and trying to be as Christ-like as possible, I was immensely blessed. We live in a truly hectic and chaotic world. I have a testimony that this is the true Church, and the presence of a living Prophet here on Earth gives me great strength and comfort to know that I have a direct line of revelation from our Heavenly Father. I know that this Gospel was restored, truthfully, by Joseph Smith and that the teachings are powerful and correct. As I have lived these teachings, the Holy Ghost has blessed me with strength to carry on, even in the hardest of times. I love my family, and knowing that I can remain with my family for eternity, even beyond the barriers of death, is one of the most endearing peaces of knowledge that I hold in my heart. I'm thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this church, I know that this is the true church, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Currently I live my faith mostly through example. I do my best to live the teachings of our church, even things that may seem peculiar to other college kids such as not drinking or smoking, and this had given me the opportunity to participate in vast discussions about my beliefs. I am currently serving the church as a full time missionary, where I'll spend the next two years teaching our beliefs and serving the people in Utah. I have always been an active participant in our church's youth program, and this has also given me the opportunity to strengthen and share my faith with others.
