Hi I'm Sandra

I'm an army brat. I'm a college student, musician, and writer. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent college graduate who studied international politics and political theory. I'm hoping to continue my education and eventually become a teacher or professor. I love to study different languages and cultures and traveling the world is at the top of my bucket list. My passions include my faith, my family, and making a difference in the world. This is probably a legacy I learned from my Dad, who served over 20 years in the military, and always taught us that helping others is worth any sacrifice. In my spare time, I love to watch and play sports of all kinds, spend my evenings strumming my guitar, hanging out with friends, or writing everything from short stories to not-so-short novels. But the closest thing to my heart is my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus is my Savior and that he loves me. I trust in him and know that if I try to do what's right, I can return to live with him again. My passion for this truth has led me to make the decision to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Campinas, Brazil. I want others to feel that same peace and love that I feel! It makes every day full of meaning and purpose.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have found through experience that my faith is the one anchor of peace and truth in a chaotic world that often seems unfair and confusing. I am a Mormon because it gives me hope. The knowledge that I am here on earth for a reason, that I have a purpose to fulfill, and that I am a daughter of a loving Father in Heaven has given me the strength to endure some of life's toughest moments. I am a Mormon because I have prayed and come to feel and know for myself that this church is true. Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. Death is not the end of life. All of the tragedies and heartaches can be made right. All of our mistakes can be wiped away. In reality, I am a Mormon because the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the knowledge of his eternal love has given me a reason to rejoice every single day! Everything that I am, all of my passions, my character, my happiness, my love for others, and my determination to make a difference in the world is a direct result of my faith. The Gospel helps me to realize my potential and find peace and happiness. It is true. And that's why I am so grateful to be a Mormon!

How I live my faith

One of the central tenants of the Gospel is love. One of the ways I try to live my faith every day is serve and love those around me. As a student in college, I had the opportunity to organize and participate in various service projects from singing in homes for the disabled, volunteering at assisted living centers, to collecting toys for homeless children. I also participate in various church programs which are designed to help people find peace and happiness. As a local leader of the women's organization in my church area, I worked to help sisters who were struggling emotionally, financially, or physically. I organized various activities meant to strengthen and help the needy and well as provide wholesome recreation for all of us hard-working college students. It is part of the great work of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to strengthen families, build individuals in their faith, character and self-reliance, and provide relief for those in need. Serving in the church has helped me find a passion for this type of work! It brings so many of us closer in our love for one another and for our Heavenly Father.
