Hi I'm John Bennett

I am from California. I am a friend, athlete, and a convert. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Being from California, I love to be outside. That is a good thing because I love sports. Sports is a passion of mine. I live, love and breathe sports. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas and my parents split when I was 10 months old. Going from house to house every other weekend, I was moving from no religion because none of them felt "right", to baptist, because everything else was wrong, and this has been the family religion for decades! So, at the age of 5 I moved to Orange County, California where my love for sports was becoming deeply rooted into my DNA. Less than a hand full of years later I met my best friend. The way we met is so extraordinary that there must have been some sort of divine help behind the scenes. It sparked an interest in me! Being only 9 years old, something was familiar to me about that friend and his family. Something I wanted to get to the bottom of. At the age of 9, I was spending 24/6 of my time with this family! Sleepovers, family gatherings, road trips, family nights, playing, dinners, etc and not being with them on Sundays bothered me. My friend then invited me to church! By this time I was so in love with this family that I wanted to be them. Whatever it was and whatever they did, it was "right" and obviously they did it the "right" way. Months later I took the missionary discussions with my mom and we were both baptized. Since then have graduated seminary, served a mission in Boston, MA, and currently play basketball at Utah State University.

Why I am a Mormon

Becoming a Mormon was not exactly the easiest choice to make. Mormons generally have a stigma attached to their title and my family was not that big of fans to the idea either. So, I had to make a decision. Who do I trust? What do I do? Where do I go? My mom? My dad? I just want to do the right thing! Brothers? Sisters? I dont have siblings so that doesnt help.. God! That was my answer. My friend and his family! They seem to know what's goign on. Maybe they can help. They did. The missionaries did. It ALL felt "right". So I knew, and my mom knew too, what we needed to do next.

How I live my faith

I live my faith because through sincere, deep, personal prayer Heavenly Father has answered my prayers and prompted me that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and did restore the true church of Jesus Christ to this earth. Letting the dominoes fall, the Book of Mormon is true, prophets recieve revelation and inspiration for those around us and things to stay away from, Doctrine and Covenants is revelation given to the prophet Joseph Smith, guiding people today, etc. I know that this is the "right" church, and the true church of Jesus Christ.
