Hi I'm Skyler

I'm a Mormon

About Me

On June 5th, 2013, I'll be on my mission to serve in the Argentina Buenos Aires South Mission. Before my mission, I've been involved in the church quite a bit. I love R/C cars and trucks, playing tennis, ultimate frisbee, and most sports. In high school I was in Swim team and in tennis, taking second at state in tennis for my school. I graduated in 2012, and got my Associated of Science from Snow College in 2013.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, I've always been a member of this church, but I have found out for myself that this church is the true church. For a few years of my childhood, we lived in Montana, in a town with a population of about 70, and very few people were LDS (Mormons). Most if not all of my friends were of a different faith, but we didn't care and just had fun during school and recess. Every once in a while, people would ask why I was different, why I didn't swear or have coffee when offered (the rest of my friends loved coffee) I just said It was against my religion, and if they pressed for more information, I told them a little bit about the church, and had them meet my parents, both of whom are LDS as well. I have been very blessed in my life, because the Lord always answers my prayers. It might not be how I pictured it, or the way that worked out best for me at the time, but he always has. There have been a few times where it's been immediate, like when I was a little kid and had torn apart my room three times over looking for a baseball, and after I sent up a prayer, found it the very next place I looked. Other times it takes a while longer, like if I should date this one girl in college more than I previously was. The answer after about a week was no. I'm not saying the girl was a bad person or evil in any way, but if I would've started dating her more, I would've missed meeting some really good friends in college and would've missed out on some really sweet opportunities.

How I live my faith

I live my faith so people know that I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or a Mormon. I enjoy helping people during the harder times of their life, but I won't help them so much that they become dependent on me, because in the long run, that doesn't help someone. I have a good time in church and enjoy going to the YSA (young single adult) ward here in Richfield, and in Ephraim when I was up there. I read my scriptures every night before I go to bed, because I know it's helped me in quite a few ways in my life, and I've also found it's almost impossible for me to fall asleep without reading something beforehand. I currently hold a temple recommend and have gone a few times this past month readying for my mission.
