Hi I'm Chris Smith

I was born in Hawaii and grew up in Sacramento. I love sports, music, learning, and my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Through a miraculous series of events I was adopted at birth and sealed to my family for all time and eternity when I was six months old. I have been raised a member of the Church my whole life, and as I’ve grown older and matured I’ve come to realize what a blessing that has been and how grateful I am for my loving, righteous parents who have provided me with the opportunity to do so. My family is amazing. I am the middle child with a wonderful older and wonderful younger sister. Water polo, baseball, Ping-Pong, you name the sport and I love to play it. I have played the piano for 11 years and the organ for 5, and often times play away my stresses and worries. I enjoy learning and knowledge and am grateful for my education. I attended Brigham Young University for a year and have made the decision to postpone my studies for two years to serve a mission and teach people about my Savior Jesus Christ. In school I am majoring in Actuarial Science and am preparing myself to become an Actuary. I look forward to the day where I can work to provide for a loving wife and kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know God loves me. There are entirely far too many things in my life that God has blessed me with for there not to be a loving God in Heaven. I have seen God’s hand in my life countless times as He has helped me through my endeavors, whatever they may be. Every major accomplishment of mine up to this point has been done with the help of my Heavenly Father. I know my own capacities and limits, and I know that with God’s help I can far exceed them. I am a Mormon because I know Jesus Christ loves me. I have felt the peace and love that only comes from accepting Him as our Savior and changing our lives to become more like Him. I know that His divine mission on Earth made it possible for every human being to be able to return to God in the next life, should they choose to follow His commandments and live by His Gospel. I am a Mormon because I know this Church is true. I have prayed about it and have experienced feelings of peace, hope, and joy that nothing else in my life has been able to offer. I am a Mormon and am proud of it. I would have it be no other way.

How I live my faith

In my community I live my faith by trying to be a good example. Simply allowing others to see the happiness and joy that result from the Church is one way I try to share my faith with others. I enjoy participating in service because there are few other things as rewarding as brightening someone’s day with your kindness and love. I don’t always need to explicitly discuss religion with someone for me to share it with them. Weekly I attend church on Sundays, daily I study scriptures, and always I have a prayer in my heart, thanking God for the wonderful life and countless blessings He has given me. I am so excited for the opportunity I have to be able to serve the people of Argentina by loving and serving them for the next two years as Jesus Christ would.
