Hi I'm Shauntel

I'm a nerd and I'm always reading. I just finished a year of college and soon I'm leaving on a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished a year of college, but I am now serving a mission. I am serving in the Brazil, Natal mission. I have a love for music. I have been playing piano for the past 8 years, and am constantly listening to all sorts of music, especially rock, folk, alternative, country and pop. I had never traveled out of the country until halfway through high school but since then I have been to South America and several countries in Europe. While I take forever to pack and always overpack no matter where I go of for how long, I love traveling and having new experiences. I read whenever I can (which is why I love my kindle so much-you take a whole library with you anywhere!) and my favorite books include Harry Potter, Hunger Games, The Fault in Our Stars, The Book Thief, and Divergent, along with many, many more. One of my favorite things in the world is getting a hand written letter in the mail. Another one of my favorite things is laughing. My friends know that because I have one of the loudest laughs you've ever heard, but I love it! Its part of what makes me me. I love hanging out with friends and just having a good time together, no matter what we are doing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a strong LDS family, and therefore have been a member for my entire life. However, I have had to work to know for myself if the church is true or not. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church on the earth today. I have come to know that for myself. I know that I am a daughter of God. I have a Father in Heaven who loves me so much and He only wants what is best for me. Sometimes I don't always understand it, but I have learned to put my trust in Him I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He suffered the atonement so that I can be forgiven of my sins and one day return to live in heaven. I know that we are never alone and that we have the power of prayer to talk to God. I know He hears and answers my prayers. I know the Book of Mormon is true. It is another testament of Jesus Christ. I have drawn closer to Christ as I have carefully and prayerfully read it. The Book of Mormon is a gift and a blessing in my life. I have received answers to my questions through the power of the Book of Mormon. The knowledge I have obtained through the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has blessed my life in so many ways, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity I have to be a part of Christ's true church on this earth. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ." -Romans 1:16. That's why I can comfortably and proudly say that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm a Mormon. And I love it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example of Jesus Christ everyday. I try to love all those around me and to be kind and patient. I try to make the right decisions and act in a way that is pleasing to my Heavenly Father. I choose to dress modestly, use clean language, not drink coffee or alcohol, not smoke and to attend my church meetings every Sunday. I work hard to show Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that I want to follow them, and be like them, especially in my words and deeds. I don't always do the best job, so the next day I try again.
