Hi I'm McKenzie

I love chocolate, nature, family and having fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Utah all my life except for a 1 1/2 years in Michigan. I am a college student and if all goes as planned will be a Registered Dietitian. I really love food and I find joy in helping others reach their goals as well as heal their body. But don't be deceived, I eat chocolate on a daily basis to keep my sanity. I served a mission in Detroit, Michigan and even though I was there a relatively short time, Michigan and the people there became my second home and family. My hobbies are kind of all over the place. One day I'll want to bake cookies, the next I'll read a good book or sew a skirt, and the next I'll go for a unicycle ride! I also love spending time outside and find it very therapeutic to be among God's creations. I also love masking tape! It can provide hours of decorating fun as you can only decorate so well on a college kid budget! but one roll of masking tape and a wall can provide hours of entertainment for a small price!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and I know that God lives and that the Book of Mormon is true! It's really as simple as that. I've been raised in a mormon family but didn't have a true testimony until I kneeled down for myself and prayed to know that this church was true. I didn't see angels or have the heavens opened but I did feel a burning in my bosum that is always there if I allow it to be. I'm a mormon because it makes me happy! I love knowing that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and who sent his son Jesus Christ to atone for my sins so I can live with him again. I know that I can be with my family forever which is a huge blessing to know that. This church helps me become the best McKenzie I can be and has helped me grow in ways that I didn't think were possible.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to follow the counsel of prophets, ancient and modern. The greatest prophet being Jesus Christ. My ultimate goal is to become more like Christ and learn His ways which will bring true joy, peace and meaning to life. This can be a daunting task but through simple habits that we form and continually work at, we will become more like Christ one step at a time. I live my faith by studying the scriptures, praying daily, going to church, paying my tithing and attending the temple regularly. I also accept responsibilities in my own ward and try my best to do as God would want me too. The list above may seem difficult but I have learned that it it not a sacrifice but a blessing. God does speak to us as His children. I've never heard an audible voice but rather felt through the Holy Ghost the answers to questions and concerns as well as peace and comfort during times of struggle. I live my faith by striving to be happy everyday and serving those around me. God wants us to be joyful and as we look everyday, we will find those moments of joy no matter how dark the day may seem.
