Hi I'm Emily

I grew up in Texas, went to school in Utah, taught English in China, and am going on a mission to Florida. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the second oldest of six children. I play the flute and piano. I love to hike and camp and do outdoorsy things. My family spends a lot of time playing games and sports together. I go to college in Utah, and I'm studying Therapeutic Recreation. I recently returned from Weihai, China where I taught English for 4 months, and I am about to set out on a mission to Florida.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it has brought so many blessings and so much happiness to my life. My knowledge of the Gospel has brought joy to my life as it has increased my faith and understanding in God's individual plan for me. The church has brought me close to Jesus Christ and has made me a better person as I have striven to live the commandments. I know that obedience to the commandments keeps me safe and happy. I know that God still speaks to His children and that He plays a role in each of our lives and that trials are for our good in the end. Being a member of the church has given me an eternal perspective. I know that things will work out as they should in the end because Heavenly Father has a plan, and He is over all. I know that the Gospel taught in the church is true because I have studied it out through study of the Book of Mormon and the Bible and then I have lived the teachings and pondered and prayed about it. The feelings of assurance and knowledge that I received cannot be denied.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be obedient to the teachings of Jesus Christ on a day to day basis and by trying to become closer to Him by reading my scriptures, praying, and serving others. Everyday I pray that I will find someone who is in need of help that I can serve--even if it's just with a smile or a "hello" because I know that Christ would do the same if He were here. I participate in church services and activities to help build my faith. I am preparing to serve a mission so that I can share my faith and happiness with those I come in contact with as a representative of Jesus Christ. In addition, I've learned that part of living my faith is living by faith, or in other words, having the patience and hope that things will work out in the way that they're supposed to in the end. I try to live my life with an attitude of "Thy will be done."
