Hi I'm Shaumbra

I am serving in the Utah Ogden Mission. I dream to be a published author and to work with animals. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in almost every major city in Wyoming and also lived in Washington for a few years as well. I feel that moving all my life has led to wonderful opportunities, exciting experiences and awesome acquaintances. I am currently serving in the Utah Ogden mission and I am loving sharing the gospel! I'm excited to share what I know with others! I like to read, write, hike, fish, take photos, bake, travel, camp and spend time with family and friends. I love movies, especially classic films with Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant and James Dean, etc. I LOVE animals. I view nature and the creatures within as a testament of God's love for us! I am thinking of becoming a veterinarian (hopefully for a zoo or wildlife park) and pursue my love of writing on the side after I serve the Lord for 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints thanks to devoted parents who believed in the gospel. It wasn't until I was about 18 or 19 that I started becoming inactive. I found myself slipping away from the church until I wasn't going at all. About a year later I realized that I was in a very dark and depressing place in my life. I soon realized that I had been living on borrowed testimony. I had taken my parents' beliefs without finding the truth out for myself. So I challenged myself to find the truth. After a couple of months of going to church, reading my scriptures and speaking with my Heavenly Father I found my answer through the Holy Ghost. I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that the church was true. It takes work and faith to do the things which the Lord and His prophets have asked us to do but I have never been happier. I have prepared and been called to serve a mission. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true church on earth. I know that our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of His children. I know He sent His son, Jesus Christ to atone for our sins so that we can return to live with Him once more. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God who restored the gospel and translated the Book of Mormon which is a companion to the Holy Bible. And I know we have a living prophet on Earth today, Thomas S. Monson, who leads us and guides us as a spokesperson for our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I am by no means perfect. I am rather an ordinary human being who makes mistakes frequently. However, I do my best to treat other people with respect, love and concern. I really want to model my life after the Savior's. It isn't an easy task, but I know when I try my best to be like Him that I find my days go by smoother. I am a teacher in my church. I have the wonderful opportunity to be a sister missionary by serving the Lord and bringing His children back into his presence. I am strengthened and uplifted every time I go to church which helps me face any trial or burden that might come my way during the week. I also have the chance to serve within my community which I always leap at the chance to do! There is nothing better than helping another person or joining a worthy cause as it always lifts my spirits.
