Hi I'm Colton

I grew up in Southern California. I love to swim, surf, and spend time with family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from high school with honors, and have been accepted to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I have also been called to serve a 2-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Japan Fukuoka mission. I plan to continue my education at BYU when I return from Japan. I love learning and enjoy schooling, and plan to major in biology and attend medical school where I will study to become and anesthesiologist. I have 2 amazing parents, 4 younger brothers, and 1 older sister. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing guitar and piano, playing sports, and spending time with family and close friends. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ with all my heart, and it has completely changed my life and molded me into the person that I am today.

Why I am a Mormon

I know without a doubt in my mind that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of God upon the Earth today. It is absolutely the main reason why I feel so much peace, joy, and happiness in my life each and every day. I testify to you with every ounce of my soul that we have a Father in Heaven who loves each and every one of us, His children, and knows us by name. He loved us so much that He sent his Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins and mistakes. Because we all make mistakes and sin, we fall short of the glory of God and thus become unworthy to return to Him on our own. But I testify that through our Savior Jesus Christ we CAN be forgiven of ALL of our sins and mistakes, and we can become worthy to return to live in the presence of God forever. As I've strived to grow closer to God by keeping his commandments, I've developed a relationship with Him and with Jesus Christ that I cannot deny. I testify that they live and that they are two separate beings united in one purpose: to bring each and every one of us back home to dwell with them for eternity. I testify that God the Father and His son Jesus Christ appeared to the prophet Joseph Smith, and that he restored the fullness of the Gospel to the Earth through divine direction. I testify that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, another testament of Jesus Christ, and that one may grow closer to God by reading from its pages than any other book. I testify that Heavenly Father does hear and answer each and every honest and faithful prayer of his children. I also promise you that our elder brother Jesus Christ is ALWAYS there for you. No matter what struggle, trial, temptation, or addiction you may be going through, He will ALWAYS be by your side every step of the way to comfort and strengthen you. I love Him and consider Him as one of my closest friends. I know that as you strive to grow closer to Him, you will be blessed. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ has had a profound impact upon me and influences my life each and every day. I strive to reflect my faith in Jesus Christ through everything I do each day. I go home teaching to several families in my church with my dad once a month, in which we share a message about the gospel and Christ's teachings with each family. I love having the opportunity to meet with my families each month to catch up with them on how they're doing, inspire them with a message centered on Jesus Christ, and offer to help them with anything they may need. I also have many opportunities to go out and share messages of Jesus Christ to various people in my town with the missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I often have the chance to give service to others in need, whether they be members of our faith or not, with other young men in our Church. I also have the opportunity to teach lessons in my Sunday School class at Church every so often. I am assigned a topic about a specific principle of our faith, and I then have the blessing of being able to lead a discussion with the class about that topic. Most importantly, I strive to let the light of Christ shine forth unto others through me. I try to live a life modeled after our ultimate example, Jesus Christ. I strive to be charitable, kind, and loving to others, and live so that others who know me but don't know our Savior, will want to know Him because they know me.
