Hi I'm Mary

I was born in North Carolina, moved across country, love music and cooking, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in North Carolina and moved across country for my dads work. I've learned and developed talents in the typical home making area. I love to cook, sew, bake, sing, dance, craft, and anything along those lines. I graduated high school, went to a semester of college, and am now getting ready to serve a mission! I am so excited about the gospel and I cannot wait to learn all I can! I am blessed to have a supportive family and friends and when they aren't that I have a loving Heavenly Father who is always by my side.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the church but my heart was never in it until I was about 18. One day I was babysitting for a couple that was on a cruise. They were unreachable for 10 days and one of their children got very sick. I was so scared and he wouldn't take medicine and I didn't know what to do so I prayed. I got an overwhelming feeling that I should call my dad and ask him to give the child a blessing. My dad and a home teacher came over early in the morning and gave this little sick child a blessing to be healed. Then I got to thinking that if I kept heading down the path I was going, I wouldn't have someone in the home to give a blessing if one of our children was sick. I would be sitting on the row at church alone, if I went to church, and I realized I wanted to change. I wanted to love Heavenly Father with every fiber of my being. So I changed. I started really going to church and praying and reading my scriptures and preparing to go on a mission and I have never been happier in my entire life! People around even saw a change in my mood and personality and that is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

I was ward choir director in my home ward I loved every minute of it! Being so young was really intimidating but I know a lot about vocal music and the calling became easier and easier as time progressed. I think that music has such a huge role in inviting the spirit into any setting, whether it be at home, in a church building, or even in the car. When I am focused on the Lord and having time to listen to listen to the spirit. I know from personal experience that the spirit speaks in a still small voice and that if we are singing songs and listening to songs that are loud and harsh and crude that the spirit will not only not be present but it will be impossible to hear. being able to worship every week with quiet and uplifting music was spectacular and I love that music, the right kind, can take you to that place or refuge and peace.
