Hi I'm Celeste

As a student of astronomy and wayfinding, I am privileged to follow the star paths of my voyaging ancestors.

About Me

Born and raised in beautiful Hawaii, I am married to Jared, my eternal companion and THE man of dreams, and am the mother of two toddler boys who inherited my curiosity for the world around them as well as my love for nature. I am also a Cultural Science Educator at an astronomy center who teaches ESTEAM (Endemic Sciences, Technologies, Engineering, Art and Math) through a Hawaiian worldview as well as a student of Astronomy at my local university. Along with these roles, I am a wayfinder and navigator’s apprentice in the art of deep-sea Polynesian voyaging, which is the technical art of finding land without the use of instruments or charts, using only nature to orient ourselves on the open ocean. In addition to that, I am also the Taupou, village maiden, of my village in Western Samoa, a title that was bestowed upon me by my grandfather, Tialavea. While each role carries an immense amount of responsibility and expectation, I am eternally grateful to my Heavenly Father and to my mother and father for building a strong foundation of faith, service, commitment and love for me to stand firmly upon. The lessons they taught me in my youth and the values they instilled in me since birth have shaped, defined and prepared me for the various roles I lead today.

Why I am a Mormon

As a fourth generation Mormon, my heritage is firmly rooted in the Mormon faith and I absolutely LOVE being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I have been witness to and the receiver of countless blessings that have come as a result of actively living the gospel. My testimony of my faith in God is unwavering. I know that I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father who knows me individually and loves me. I know that my life has purpose and have felt the peace and joy that comes to it as I “trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not unto my own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). Through the Plan of Happiness I have been blessed with an eternal perspective that allows me to see the importance of every choice and action I make, whether big or small. It is also through this same plan that I have felt the eternal joy and comfort of being sealed to my family for time and all eternity in the sacred temple, the House of the Lord. I know that we have a living Prophet, President Thomas. S. Monson, who has been appointed the Navigator of this voyage and that he leads and guides us today on our journey to salvation. I believe in the words of the Book of Mormon and that it is another testament of Jesus Christ. Above all else and with every fiber of my being, I know that my Savior lives and I love Him. I’m a Mormon…I KNOW it! I LIVE it! I LOVE it!

How I live my faith

As a member of this church I have been afforded some wonderful opportunities to teach, lead, serve and learn from women of all ages. In my years of service, my greatest joy has come from watching the transformation of a young woman (whether young in age or young at heart) as she comes to understand and believe, as I have, that she is a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves her. It has been a pleasure to watch people’s lives enriched and homes & families strengthened by women who acknowledge their divine nature and individual worth.
