Hi I'm Tali Mataitusi

I've grown up in Redlands, California. I love to laugh! I look forward to meeting new people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up in Redlands and have loved every day of it. In high school I played Water Polo, which always presented opportunities to talk about the church and the gospel. I participated in service organizations that presented frequent opportunities to serve in the community, which always proved to better my life as well as those I was able to work with. I spent my first semester of college in Hawaii, where I decided to come home afterwards to serve a mission at 19. I report to the MTC on June 26th to serve as a full-time missionary in the Denver, Colorado North Mission for 18 months, and I could not be more blessed and excited to be tried and tested and to serve others.I love my family and the laughs we seem to always share each day. Dr. Suess seems to have a quote for every situation, and I can't go a day without a song playing in my mind. I am a firm believer in "Blooming where you are planted" and that everyone has a story. There is nothing we cannot overcome if we put our faith in Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I love to serve and because I have not found anything else on this earth more rewarding and joyous than this church and this gospel. The gospel is true. If anything else, there is no way that a 14-year old, uneducated boy could have translated the Book of Mormon without the help of God our Heavenly Father. I know He hears our prayers and he answers them, though not always how we might want them answered. He has a plan that we cannot even begin to comprehend, but He knows what He is doing. I know that as long as I put my faith in Him and live my life worthily to receive the many many blessings he has lined up for me, then He will bless me! He is just waiting for me, for all of us, to choose the right so that He can bestow those blessings upon us. I know that I have a purpose here on earth and that is to live righteously so that I may return to the Lord's presence, and I know that I will be able to spend all eternity with my family. I know this gospel is true, and I can not wait to serve God's children in Colorado for the next 18 months. I want to help them understand that God loves them and has a plan for them, each specifically. I am grateful for constant companionship of the Holy Spirit to help guide and direct me. I know that Christ is there to take away my pains and my sorrows because He has already suffered them for me, and I am eternally grateful. Wherever life takes me, I will make the most of it because I know I will be there for a reason. I believe in Christ with all of my heart and hope to one day help those near and dear to me to understand and experience all the joy that I get from this church.

How I live my faith

There is strength in numbers, which has helped me in not only going through the Young Women's program (for girls ages 12-18) but to serve in the Young Women's program after I returned from college. When I have gone through struggles alone, it has seemed tougher to stand strong, but having friends with the same beliefs as me has given me that extra support and strength to stand a little taller and smile a little more. Music has a way of touching my heart faster and more strongly than anything else, so listening to hymns, or even more mainstream music, has impacted my life in such a positive way. I have never been forward with my beliefs, and I am not one to talk about the gospel to any and everyone, but I know that if I keep living the gospel by making good decisions and serving others, I will have opportunities to help others to recognize that my actions reflect the gospel and spark their curiosity.
