Hi I'm Rebecca Reading

I'm bold and outgoing. I've got one crazy extraordinary life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love living; trying new things. Life is an adventure to me. I want to visit new places, explore the outdoors, and see the world. Camping and being in the woods is like my second home. I love the peace that is outside and in nature. I love excelling in sports and anything that pushes my body to its physical limits. Anything active, any sport, any activity, sign me up! I love to play Softball, Soccer, and I love to swim! I love my family, and even though we are broken in so many ways I adore each and every one of them in their own little way. I love music, and can never seem to keep a favorite song for more than a day. I love my friends too, they have been such a strength for me and I'm so thankful and blessed to have such a great support system. I love trying new things and meeting new people. I used to be shy, but I have grown into a very outgoing and friendly person. I delight in service and helping others around me. If I had one word to describe myself I think the word would be "good".

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Heavenly Father, and I love my brother Jesus Christ. I know that this is the only true church on the face of the earth and that it was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that the Book of Mormon is the most correct book ever written, and that it truly holds the keys to our salvation and helps us understand how it is we should live and who we need to be. I love knowing that my family can be together forever, and that when I get married in the Temple, there is no expiration date. Until death do you part does not exist in the Temple. I love knowing that Heavenly Father does not expect me to be perfect, He just expects me to try. I know that Jesus Christ suffered and died for me so that I could come to this earth and be tested, so that some day I can return to live with my Father in Heaven. I cannot imagine my life without the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the blessings it brings. It helps me become better and better everyday. I know that there is no better way to live than through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It's who I am, it's what I'm made of, and what I am to become.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be an example at all times, in all things, and in all places. I feel like that is the most important part of being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is living it. Often times people who are not of our faith recognize an action being performed by a member that contradicts our religion leaving them confused. Truth is though, is that we all do this, members or not. None of us are perfect in any way, shape or form and that's just how it is in this life. Although we are not perfect, Jesus Christ is. As members we represent His name and His true church once again placed on the earth. That is why it is so important to try and live everyday better than yesterday, and to represent Christ in the best way possible. I love serving others, and we learn from the scriptures that charity is the pure love of Christ. I feel closest to the Savior when I am out serving people, and that is why I have decided to serve a full time time missionary. I discover more and more everyday how much I have to sacrifice to serve a mission, but I am willing to give two years of my life so that someone else can take part in the knowledge and blessings that come through the Church. One of my favorite quotes is "Mis-sion-ary noun Someone who leaves their family for a short time, so that others may be with their family for eternity." Not all of us have the opportunity to serve a full time mission, but there are things that we can do everyday to help spread the Gospel and bring joy to others.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Rebecca Reading
Prayer is our direct link to our Father in Heaven. We can communicate with Him at any time and in any place. We are his children, and He wants us to talk with Him. Often times we feel as though our Heavenly Father does not hear our prayers because we do not receive the answer we want or in the amount of time we desire. But once we accept His plan, we start to realize that he answers in His own way and that he does know us personally. What a wonderful experience when we see our Heavenly Father answering our prayers, even in the smallest ways. One of the Twelve Apostles, Jeffery R. Holland states: “God is eagerly waiting for the chance to answer your prayers and fulfill your dreams, just as he always has. But he can't if you don't pray, and he can't if you don't dream. In short, he can't if you don't believe.” Show more Show less
