Hi I'm Kaitlin Porter

I'm a BYU student, a GKLM missionary, hiker, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a 20-year-old BYU student currently serving in the Great Kentucky Louisville Mission, Spanish-speaking! I'm a journalism major, and I love photography. I love hiking, camping with my fam, movies, reading, painting, and going to concerts. I'm terrible at sports, but I enjoy trying! I grew up in Arizona and was baptized at age 16. I finished seminary and graduated as a valedictorian before attending BYU and serving my mission in the GKLM. I love being a missionary!

Why I am a Mormon

My family moved to a different state when I was almost eight years old, and we stopped going to church. My mom got active again, but it wasn't until I attended girls camp when I was 15 that I first felt the Spirit. Although it took me a while to get interested, I started going to early morning seminary my sophomore year, and I began reading the Book of Mormon. I knew it was true before I even finished it! I was baptized with my sister by my older brother on November 21, 2009. So why am I a Mormon? Before being baptized, I was pretty confused about who I was. I didn't know what my purpose was here, and I didn't know what I believed in. But one day it all became clear. It was like something clicked and everything became so bright and clear. I have never felt greater peace than I have knowing that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His one true church. I know who I am, I know why I'm here, and I know where I'm going. That means so much to me, and I want others to feel this same peace, security and purpose that I have in my life.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full-time mission in the Great Kentucky Louisville Mission as a Spanish-speaking hermana. I love helping others come to love the Gospel the way I learned to love it when I was 16. I try to be of service wherever I am, and I try to help others come to know that this Gospel is true too. It's changed my life, and I want it to change others' lives as well!
