Hi I'm Shirley Millar

I am getting ready to serve a mission in Russia for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints...The Mormons.

About Me

Hi, I'm a mother of 4, a grandmother of 14 and love being with my family. After raising my children, I went back to college, graduated and then taught elementary school for 12 years. I retired 7 years ago and moved to Utah with my husband. We love to travel and golf but most of all we love to serve in our community and in our church.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. Living by its principles, gives my life purpose and direction. I have been a member of the Church all my life and am grateful that my grandparents of many generations ago accepted the gospel. I'm grateful my parents lived by gospel principles and taught me to do the same. I have a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and know that as we live by its principles we will find great joy and peace, even in a world where that is hard to find. I'm grateful for knowledge of God's plan for my to return home to Him. I know that He knows me personally and loves me. I take great comfort in that. I know that I have a Savior who also loves me and is there to help me through difficult times. He has experienced all that I will ever have to experience and understands my pain, therefore can succor me in times of need. I know that once you begin to live by the principles of the gospel, you will feel the guiding influence of the Holy Ghost and will see a great change take place in your life. I testify that the gospel of Jesus Christ will bring you happiness and joy beyond belief and will give you a direction in your life that will lead you back home to our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

It is such a blessing for me to be a member of my church as it gives me many opportunities to grow and learn through service. In my various callings in the church, I have worked with children, with teenagers and with adults and have found great joy and satisfaction in that service. I have been able to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to high school and college age students. It was a rewarding experience to see the knowledge and testimonies of these young people grow. My husband and I have recently received a mission call to serve in Russia. We will, once again, be working with the college age young people and are very excited about being a part of their lives for 18 months. We are learning the Russian language and doing all we can to prepare to serve in Russia.
